I really enjoyed this book, and I liked both Marc and Karen. My only problem was that John Medina kind of took over the book (a good problem), and I was far more interested in him than in Marc and Karen.

Fantastic set of 7 books that every kid should read. My favorite book in the set is "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". I have picked up this series many times over the years and re-read them many times.

I really loved these books, Incarceron and Sapphique. It felt like reading MC Escher. I enjoyed the creativity behind the concept for this story. I felt a little let down that it didn't have a happier ending but also appreciate it more that way. I don't mind feeling let down once in a while in lieu of a more realistic ending.

Steve Callahan meticulously documents his 76 days marooned at sea in a tiny rubber raft in this classic survival story. Callahan's beautiful way with language and his detailed descriptions of survival equipment make for an interesting and thought-provoking read. The special relationship he cultivates with the dorados that batter him, feed him, and eventually lead rescuers to him is amazing. Near the end of his journey, Callahan says he survived because it was easier than giving up. This eloquent book has much to say about the human spirit.

This book was great. It's a fast read that provides a rare look behind the scenes at the DCCC. In sum: everyone worked very hard to win back the House in 2006. What I most enjoyed about this book though, was that it delved into local and regional political dramas that occurred in Democratic primaries and House races all across the country. Most of these stories weren't covered by the national media and so you'd only know of them if you live close to the district. I like a non-fiction book that both enlightens and entertains, and this one did both.

** spoiler alert ** All and all, I was interested enough to read this series straight through. I liked the first book, but found it really hard to relate with her "relationship" with Jacob. I thought this last book was the worst of the four. If Bella hadn't become a kick-ass vampire at the end, I would have had to consider this book a waste. What was up with the whole baby thing?!? I'm sure it's a way to foreshadow a new series, but please-alittle more effort.

You jump into this book, and you're a little unsure of what to expect. It opens with a man in a typical fantasy setting using some serious magic. Then it jumps to a young woman using more magic, but this time in what would appear to be a real-world setting sometime between the 1920's to the 1990's. Welcome to the world of Ancelstierre and the Old Kingdom. Not to mention Life and Death. You will quickly become sucked into it, and demand more. To a minor extent, the characters of Sabriel and Touchstone do suffer a little from plot-drivenness, but they are still likeable, definitely not Mary-Sues, and the next two books do not sacrifice characterisation at all. This book is intensely readable.
