Jack Boyle bx_elb — This is not what I expected. I thought I had picked up a good summer thriller, but it was more romance than anything. I left it at the hostel in France with no desire to share with anyone I know.

Xiangjiang Ouyang ouyangxian98b6 — Fascinating subject (the OED) but not particularly well-written.

Sanaa Elkhalfi _anaa_lkh — I enjoyed this book. Of course I love the way Julie Garwood writes, she is one of my favorite authors. I do like her historicals so much better.

Jim Payne jimpaynesp8178 — I adore the idea of this book, but it proved a slog to read. So dry! I have read other nonfic that tackled this topic in a much more compelling way.

Costin Genescu costingen — I liked this pretty well. I only give it three stars because it felt almost too artful -- too deliberate. It felt like a young writer. Is that weird that I judge books on those kinds of grounds? At any rate, I immediately started talking about the book later, which means that the concept was good, which it was. And the whole idea of the dumper/dumpee differential. I am still wondering which I'd be. It just felt a little too calculated to get more than three stars.
