Alyissa Johnson alyissajo — Brilliant writer, and fascinating story. He is so quick witted, the moment I finished, I picked it right back up and read it again. I laughed so hard I had tears pouring down the cheeks. I loved this book!

Adrian Verdau adrianverd5c28 — I listened to this while running and walking with Stella, and it was absolutely perfect for that purpose: it kept me distracted from the agony of exercise and made me actually want to get out and get moving so that I could continue with the story. Is it the greatest book ever? No, but it's a fantastic story. I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to downloading the next installment.

Elizabeth Johnson elisjohnson — My personal favorite book. I don't say that lightly. It has it all. Great story, travel, fighting, screwing, bathtubs as tombs, a great hero/anti hero, hookers, highballs. You name it it's there. Word.

Joanna Zimnoch _oanna_imnoch — I rarely give a book a full 5 stars, but this one truly deserves the highest rating possible. I've never read a piece of historical fiction that brings the characters to life as much as this novel does. I love to learn new things, and this book prompted me to read more about that period in European history. This was the best historical fiction novel I have ever read. Whenever I pick up a book of any genre of fiction, I'm always hoping that I will find a character (or characters) who will be interesting and who I will grow to admire as the story progresses. The Queen's Fool is Hannah, and she captured my heart in the first 20 pages. Told from her point of view, the novel weaves her fictional life into the intriguing cloth of the people and events of Tudor England. The author did a fabulous job of researching the history of this period, and inspired me to read more about Mary I of England, Elizabeth I of England, and Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester. I've always been at least slightly interested in British history, but this novel has certainly piqued my hope to learn more. One thing I found extra cool about this novel is that some of it takes place in Hampton Court, and I was privileged to visit there while in high school, so I was able to imagine it as it really is. Another important thing to me when reading a book is a happy ending. I don't like sad or unfinished endings. While this novel doesn't actually end happily for everyone, it is a satisfying conclusion to a very enjoyable read. I look forward to reading more of Philippa Gregory's talent-filled tomes.

Cristiano Martelli cristianomartelli — As many other reviewers will no doubt have already said, this was a pretty good story which was not really written all that well. It was interesting and very simply written, which made it easy to geth through. However, there were so many instances which made me think that she really could have used the help of someone who has written memoirs before. There was a lack of continuity through the whole book. There was little order, chronological or otherwise. Oftentimes, chapters were 2 or 3 pages long and were situated between two seemingly irrelevant chapters. Part of the reason that I might be so hard on this book is the fact that I was simultaneously reading ME by Ricky Martin, which (from at least a literary standpoint) was vastly superior. I actually had to focus only on this book to stop the comparison of style, but he'll get his own review. :) Still, her words carried a lot of weight from their sheer honesty, which made the book deserving of the 3 stars. I believe this could have been a 5-star book, though, and that makes this disappointing. I am glad that she wrote it, I am glad that I read it and I am glad that she is out. I know that her words will serve as a source of support to the many people who have or are going through difficulties like this.
