Love, love, love this book. Love all of the characters with all of the collateral damage they create, and then attempt to repair, in the lives around them. Love the goodness of the people.

Harrowing, (and hard to read in parts) but ultimately uplifting.

I have read many books on sanctification and Christian change... This one does a great job providing great theology with great practical suggestions. That makes this book unusual. Because of the author's theology of grace his pratical suggestions do not bury themselves in self help drivel. But he also doesn't leave you stranded with great theology but no suggestions on how to apply that to real life. Overall a very helpful book on how to change without resorting to self reliance and instead running to grace that is able to help in time of need. Also the book is not focused on any one area of change - it touches on overeatting, worry, anger, lust, drinking, pride, gossip, shopping - so probably you...:) It does have a story about a man who told C H Spurgeon he had reached sinless perfection. Spurgeon didn't respond until the next day when he poured a whole pitcher of milk on the man's head a breakfast...The man soon realized he had not quite arrived at perfection...:)

The book, by author Jodi Picoult, is one of her most riveting books to-date (after My Sister's Keeper ofcorse). The story gets to you and stays with you - i would think the effect might be more pronounced if the reader is a parent. A must-read for Jodi Picoult fans :).

I expected so much more from Rebecca Walker...having read her first book and heard her speak, I know she's capable of intelligent discussion. Unfortunately, she doesn't use that ability in this book, which is really just a glorified pregnancy journal. There may be people who find it interesting, but I honestly couldn't care less what her blood pressure is on any given day or how "ginormous" she's getting.

A very interesting novel. it takes place in 1967, following Che's goals, beliefs, and lifestlye through the perspective of fictional CIA agent Peter Hoyle. Lots of suspense and danger through firefights in the bolivian jungle and on-road guerrila ambushes. Very well written as it details Che's goals in a very admirable way rather then criticizing them, and shows the reader the true hero in Che. Even if you dont agree with him politically, by the end of the novel Pfarrer will have you saluting Che all the way. " Better to die standing, then to live on your knees" - Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.

75% of the book was really good; engaging, thoughtful and even traumatizing. However, the final quarter of the book fell short. Up until that point it didn't feel like fiction. But sadly, the closer I got to the end the more "make-believe" it felt. I wouldn't say it was a total disappointment, but I had higher hopes.

One of THE funniest and most enjoyable non-fiction books I've ever read. When I recommend a book that is great escapist, non-fiction, this one comes to my lips. Bless Bryson for recounting his heart-warming, humorous tales while trying to walk the Appalachian trail.
