Another in this great series of books. I really enjoy these and it was as usual greatly interesting to read of Anna and James' relationship status and catch up as to what's going on with them. This tale is of a young movie starlet murdered in her bed. She turns out to be a real tart on the quiet and is also a drug user so there's no shortage of people in her life that would have wanted to see the back of her. Once again it's a real page-turner and I have the next in the series on my bookshelf ready to delve into soon as well !!

Keyes does an excellent job of demonstrating his understanding of anthropology and "primitive" cultures. A little too much, at times. That being said, the characters are believable and very detailed, and the setting is amazingly complex and well conceived. This is a good one -- a marriage of high fantasy and a more spirit-based religious system -- the novel has the basic fantasy tropes combined with a few new ideas. The flaw? It reads a bit like someone transcribed their Dungeons and Dragons game as a novel. It isn't quite as transparent as Dragons of Autumn Twilight, but there are a few jarring moments which seem like nods to some sort of inside joke we're not privy to. Also, a number of events seem to be attempting to explain a sort of "game mechanic." In any case -- this is a good read, well worth an aftenoon.

Just got this in the reading copy box. Media Factory様どうもありがとう. 個人的には出版したい. So far, five modified scene checked, including two semi-nude scene and three casual breast groping. そんなに悪い事じゃないが, こっちの社会は難しい. Senou Natsuru is chosen to be Kampfer, warrior. In magical girl style, he's chosen by a doll-like mascot character, although not so cute (evil looking cat performing seppuku). Like magical girl, right ? Because Natsuru is a male, thus to fit in the rule, he's changed to female. Done. Kampfer are made to fight with each others and can transform. During that transformation, they get physical strength as well as weapon. Natsuru have Zauber (magic, fire based) and her first opponent and later team mate, Akane has Geffea (gun). The other type, Schwertz (sword) is used by their opponent from the enemy side. Maybe because of the way I'm reading it, the story pace felt a bit difficult to follow. Sometime fast, then suddenly cut to the next scene. Plot, I'll follow it for now because the novel is already more than 10 books. Just, I hope Natsuru is coupled with Akane instead of Kaede. I think both the normal and Kampfer Akane strikes a nice balance for Natsuru. (^ー^) By the way, comparing this with Mondlicht 2, drawn by the same artist, which I read this morning, this one is far tamer in the fan service department. :D

Soy poco imparcial con "il Lupo". Benni desborda imaginación e ingenio en todas sus obras, a veces hace justamente eso, desbordar, por lo que no resulta extraño el saturarse con todas esas imágenes que van de lo más disparatado a la realidad más sangrante. Divertidos algunos, trágicos otros pero siempre a la manera de Benni. El teatro leído siempre puede perder algo de la intención original del autor, de hecho la explicación final sobre como fue el montaje del texto, algo independiente para nuevas actrices, ayuda a comprender un poco mejor esa idea inicial de ocho mujeres representando ocho tipos distintos pero todas evocando a la idealizada Beatrice de Dante. Ha habido momentos mejores y peores, quizás sólo lo recomendaría a los iniciados en Stefano Benni.

The Nosy Neighbor by Fern Michaels was a good book to read on the beach. (And such terrific weather did we have in Ocean City, let me tell you!) The plot...totally unbelievable. The lengthy dialogue was unimagineable. It was amazing that every character who showed up happened to be (a) really good looking (b) a really good cook and (c) exactly like what you thought he/she would be. There really were no surprises here. However, as I said, it was good for the beach.

Well, I love this series, needless to say. Yet this book was a slight disappointment. The whole Jace and Clary thing with them loving each other yet Jace always pulling away is getting really old for me. Though I did love the relationship between Simon and Izzy. Now, I personally feel that the books have gotten way too angsty teenage drama. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT! I want some good fights, like in the earlier books. Sure, I understand the whole need for love stories within the book, but I want action to balance it out, and in this one it just didn't. Spoilers, because I don't care enough to put it as that hide in spoilers stuff. Now, I do love that Sebastian comes back. I know that sounds weird, but I do love the whole Sebastian story. And Lilith was also an interesting twist. Now, the thing that sucks is that, the only part I REALLY enjoyed was the end. I mean some of the stuff in the middle was cool, but the end was best. So, I am tired and not supremely coherent so I will put a better review when I can think more clearly
