If you're looking for a glimpse into the making of Che Guevara, then this is arguably the best option, even more so than Che's own documentation of this journey in his Motorcycle Diaries. However, this is by no means a political work, and anyone interested in true, amusing, life-changing travel stories should enjoy this, regardless of background knowledge on Guevara, or opinion of him. Granado was able to edit this book to show the relevant moments in their journey that would eventually lead Guevara to Marxism, whereas Che was unfortunately not able to add to his diaries, making this a far better account of their journey through Latin America, which is made yet more enjoyable by Alberto Granado's humourous observations and wit.

This was an Oprah Bookclub pick and I read all of her picks. If it had not been for that, I would never have read this book because it is a translation and I'm never sure if everything gets translated correctly plus it is magical realism which I am never sure I completely get. It was work to finish it but finish it I did. When something that is supposed to be fun, like reading a book, becomes work, it is difficult to give it more than 2 stars. It has been 7 years since I read it and I can't really remember anything much about it except confusion.

This book, Burning up with the Jonas Brothers is about the life of the Jonas Brothers. It is the first book the Jonas Brothers have written. It talks about their concerts, their family, their band, their fans, and a lot more things happening with their life. It is my favourite book. I think that it is amazing how they took the time to write this book for their fans. It really gets to know them better. This book really inspired me, because they wrote about really important things they did, and how they helped other people, for example they have a change for the children foundation, and it wrote about it in the book, and I think it is really cool how they want to help other people. They also wrote about their purity rings, and how they are not ashamed to wear them. They also even wrote about Mexico! About coming here, and it being the biggest concert in the world!! There were also a lot of pictures included about them, that many people didn´t see. This is a great book, and if you love the Jonas Brothers, I reccomend you to read it!

Not technically a book about King Arthur, but more about some of the people who grew up and lived around him. I remember reading this (and the other two books in the trilogy) when it first came out, and was pleased because I shared a similar opinion of Mallory's Le Morte d'Arthur that Jones does - Mallory's Arthur is spineless and whiny, Lancelot is much the same, women barely are treated as human, and the only character he seemed to like was Mordred. Jones took the basic framework of Mallory and turned it about so that the characters are actually human. Being a retired anthropologist, they also fit a bit better into 5th century Britain. The result is a pleasant afternoon read. This book centered on Pelleas, older brother to Arthur (both sons of Uther, although Pelleas' mother is a Pict woman and Arthur's is Igraine, widow of Gorlois). He ends up helping Myrddin raise the young Arthur, but it then follows his path in freeing the Picts from the Saxons and Gaels. Nineve, who becomes the Lady of the Lake, also factors in, first as the ward of Myrddin, and later as a romantic interest for Pelleas. If you know the characters already, and most of us do, this is a fun read. If you haven't met them yet, it still is enjoyable to see the unique spin Jones puts on this tale that "everyone knows".

So far I've found a lot of good points in this book about the way our society views men and maleness.

I admit that I'm surprised by how much I liked this book - I was expecting, as an active Mormon, to be more upset by Krakauer's depiction of my faith. But I didn't really feel like Krakauer was aiming to paint a picture of my faith, or at least not of mainstream Mormonism as it's practiced today - he was out to paint a picture of radical Mormon fundamentalism, and how it got to where it is. And the history in the book is good - yeah, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young taught some weird, messed up things. The modern church has eschewed many of these more esoteric (and racist... and violent...) teachings, but it doesn't change the fact that they were once taught, and that many people still cling to them. And many of those who cling to them are drawn to the fundamentalist groups that have split off of the LDS church. Combine that with an extreme case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a patriarchal worldview, and a violent upbringing, and BAM - you get the Lafferty brothers. And obviously there are plenty of modern-day Mormons, even many narcissists, who don't commit murder or go to the extreme that Ron & Dan Lafferty did. I do think that people sometimes do bad things under the guise of religion, but I don't think that religion, on the whole, causes people to do bad things. And I think it's beneficial that this cautionary tale has been put out there, to remind us of the pitfalls of fanatical religious fervor. I still think that, on the whole, religion helps good people be better people, and I understand how people might disagree with me. But I thought Krakauer did a pretty decent job, despite his biases (that he partially lays out in his Author's Remarks at the end of the book) of making it clear that the Lafferty brothers were the exception, not the rule, to Mormonism (and, to a lesser degree, the exception to Mormon Fundamentalism as well).

I did like this, though I was really disappointed with Lynley's relationship with Ardery. Also disappointed that there was no discovery of the corruption of the local copper's corruption. Hope Havers character continues to develop, I like her even though she drives me crazy!

A very short review: too much sex, too short story, abrupt ending. Still, if you are looking for hot sex & not much plot, this is for you ;-). It is a pity though, because it is well written and the potential for some depth was there. Please notice: - For my rating I'm not taking into account the fact that I bought a 110 pages-PDF and found out the story was exactly 66 pages: the blame for that lies with Samhain! - I've read almost everything by K.A. Mitchell and she usually gets 4 stars from me
