Chen Yang yc89731cb5 — I did like this, though I was really disappointed with Lynley's relationship with Ardery. Also disappointed that there was no discovery of the corruption of the local copper's corruption. Hope Havers character continues to develop, I like her even though she drives me crazy!

Rute Torres _ute_orres — I saw the Oscar winning movie when I was still a teenager and I liked it. However, the novel is too long for a topic quite short. I read that Judith Guest intended this to be a short story and I thought that she should have stick to it. I thought it could have been more effective if the story explains why did the mother became cold and indifferent. Mothers are not always like that especially if she has already lost one son and only one is still alive.

Jeremy Cartwright jeremycartwright — I think Wouk is always worth reading, even if, as in the case, the book is not up to his usual standard. What bugged me in particular with this book is the Barak/Emily relationship, which seemed to me a pallid copy of Pug/Pamela from "Winds of War/War and Remembrance."
