This book made me so mad. Luckily I was reading it on my Kindle; otherwise it would have been flung across the room on numerous occasions. Tucker Max is what we call in Australia a wanker, or my favourite new word, a f#$%tard, better known in other countries as a douche bag. This book is one long bragging session about the women he has treated like crap, the amount of alcohol he has drunk, and how awesome he is. I read it to the end just to see if he got his comeuppance, but alas I was disappointed.

I read this before I saw the movie, and as usual, the book is a lot better than the movie. Although the writing can get pretty sub-par at times (not bad though for Niffenegger, who is actually a paper artist by trade), the story is something special. The author does not make the mistake of making huge deal out of time-traveling, which would take a lot away from the real focus of the plot - transcending love. It sounds really sappy, I know, and I must admit I actually cried in the end. But what can I say, it is a very unconventional love story...

I found this book very fascinating. Maybe partly because I lived so long in Iowa, and knew about some of the places they mentioned. I was amazed that the 11 girls stayed so close even though living far apart from each other and having young families. They continued to get together once or twice a year! I became very nostalgic for my own female friendships, especially those from my childhood.

I'm really enjoying this one. I remember choosing not to read it when it first came out because of the switch in voice from present day to flashback; but I was without an audio book, so I picked this up from the library, and it's very good. Grafton (and Kinsey) is one of those authors that feel very familiar and comfortable to me, and this one, surprisingly to me, is one of her best.

Beautifully, simply and powerfully written, this novel by Lisa Genova allows us to be a passenger on the one-way journey of an intelligent and capable woman through her discovery that she has early onset Alzheimer's Disease. I gained a greater perspective on the invisible interior struggles at every turn. For me, this will be worth a second, if not third, read. I have a renewed respect for the fragility of life --not just of death itself but the precarious nature of being truly involved and connected while living. I personally will not put off collecting, sharing and documenting my thoughts and life experience.
