Old Mr. Cedar is so wrapped in past memories of his dead son John that he all but ignores his other children. Pauline meets and falls in love with Mark Cedar, but when she thinks her love is not returned Mark's brother Derek - for his own reasons - makes Mark believe Pauline is his mistress. This is the first book that I've read by Iris Bromige. It was very well-written and suspenseful. I give it an A+!

Very interesting book. I would probably have given it five stars, but I have a little trouble buying into science fiction/fantasy type plots. Still, enjoyed the characters and have become quite attached to them!

Alton Brown is just awesome. While the recipes in all his books are good, the best part is that he explains the "why" of cooking. And usually with whimsical diagrams which helps visual people like me. Once you understand how and why a recipe turns out, you can extrapolate that information into your own recipes.

Seven Days in the Art World is a really informative and enjoyable read. I really like Thornton’s style of writing: detailed observation peppered with humour and very clear. The book is organised into seven sections that de-mystify different areas of the art world. As an artist I particularly enjoyed reading about the behaviour of art collectors and dealers in The Auction and The Fair. In these chapters Thornton provides a fly-on-the-wall insight into the commercial side of art that is revealing and at times shocking. I would recommend this book to all art students and emerging artists who want to know what happens outside the studio.
