This book is brilliant and beautiful but made me feel like a bit of a pervert. I couldn't stop getting slightly turned on reading some of the sexual parts and then hating myself for feeling that way. I was impressed with the voice, especially. The entire book is written in first person dialect, similar to TRAINSPOTTING, and so it really just takes you through the world in the mind of the character. I will extremely interested to see what kind of trouble this author might get into with this book, considering it's racy nature in these extremely PC times. This is not the kind of book to give to your grandmother, by the way.

Such a wonderful read! I think it is rare that a classic book actually lives up to the hype, but this one certainly did. I can definitely add this to my all-time favorite list. I decided to read it because I loved the new Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightly so much, and I'm so glad I did. This is one I think I can continue to read and peruse and never get bored with it - the mark of a truly well-written and enjoyable book!

I enjoyed this historical fiction. You feel like you're reading a diary of a woman who may have had an affair with FDR but you're actually learning about life in the U.S. during the 20's and 30's at the same time. Sneaky.

It's so hard to be the book in the middle of a story; and this is one of those books. The story must continue until the end but i'm just not feeling this is her best work. I'm re-reading this in time for the last book to hit stores (and yes, i'll be on lock-down that weekend). I'm more in this book so that I can be caught up to the intricacies of the storyline than for it's page-turning suspense. But, if you are a fan, then of course it's a must-read.
