I have always enjoyed the Odd Thomas series and this book is just as exceptional. As always, Odd is the reluctant hero who struggles with his own gifts. Of all of the Odd books, I think this has been my favorite thus far. I was disappointed with the ending as I was left wanting more, but otherwise this was an excellent book.

So good. And so sad I had to hide the book like I used to do with scary novels for fear it would somehow spill over into reality. Having read The Egyptologist, I am also awed by Phillip's ability to write so well in such different genres.

This was a book that I couldn't put down. Every time i started to get bored with the plot line, the author threw in a plot twist that left me wanting to know what happened to the main characters. Did a good job of switching between the 3 main characters nicely without leaving you confused about what just happened also. Totally recommend this book to others. Can't wait for the sequel to come out!!!!

Brilliant, Brilliant Author! Kind of Braveheart-ish. If you liked that, you may like this. Can good triumph over evil? Or will it always be a matter of the guy with the sword wins? What about when the guys that are supposed to be good are really evil? You may be moved to feel every emotion possible. At times you may find yourself wondering "Is there a God? How could He let these things happen?" While at other times you see things were only possible with Divine Intervention. "The duck swallows the worm, the fox kills the duck, the men shoot the fox, and the devil hunts the men."

I wanted to like this one, since the cover is so cute. But, halfway through I realized that it just wasn't grabbing me, that I didn't care what happened, and that it wasn't really worth my time. So I gave it up. For the record: my 12 year old really liked it, though.

This is such a great book in so many ways. One idea that was really monumental for me was the concept of choices in one's life and that we have the abliity to accept the choices we have made and be happy with them. Our life does not just happen to us, be we can truly in control of the choices we make and how we deal with them. I like the quote " To live safely, is to live dangerously". It means to me, not to be afraid to take what you really want and have passion for. Breuer deals with the fear of death and not living a life of his choosing. Nietzshe tells him " Live when you live! Death looses it terror if one dies when one has consummated one's life! If one does not live in the right time, then one can never die at the right time" I loved it! There is so much depth in this book that I could read it over and over again and gain new wisdom from it.
