My second time through this book was even better than the first. It's an excellently crafted story-within-a-story where you know the ending in the first five pages, but spend the entire novel completely engrossed with character development and the discovery of how the characters' lives shaped them and brought them to the ending. In my opinion there is also no author who writes women better than Margaret Atwood.

Book #45 How does Christopher Moore come up with these ideas? 'Twas a good book and humourous too. It was also a little strange, and of all of his far out ideas in his books that I've read, this has to have been the most oddball, out there kind of story. Still, I loved the reason the Winged Whale Sings and it was one of my own hypothesis once all of the explanations started coming in. Since Christopher Moore is always a humourous read, in the April Reading Challenge, this will count towards #6, "Read a book that you heard or think would be 'funny'". I've now read books that fit 7 of the 10 criteria, plus a few extras. I'm not sure I'll finish before the end of the month, but 7 is a pretty good number I think.

I thought this book was really fabulous. I loved the way it was written and I was so into it that I felt everything that Sarah was going through, whether I wanted to or not. This book was funny, terrifying, devastatingly sad, and hopeful all at once. I loved reading about such a strong woman in the late 1800s; I highly recommend this book.

This book changed my entire concept of what it means to relate with God, what He wants from us. Willard manages to cover both the theoretical/abstract framework as well as the gritty practical aspects of prayer. I've now read the book three times.

This book was really quirky and gimmicky (pages of spam/numbers/puzzles/etc), but I really enjoyed it. I was skeptical when Coupland wrote himself into the book, but the end worked for me. He touches on some serious subjects with an irreverant, light touch and it works. This book is full of pop culture references and has a dark sense of humor, so it may not be for everyone. Coupland fans will love it, I'm sure.

Skimmed it majorly. I think I wasn't in the mood. Agree with the reviewer who got tired of all the period slang.

I found the historical aspect of this novel fascinating. (And a quick google search indicates it's event-accurate - bonus!) And I liked the fact that the author doesn't choose sides - you get to see things from both the Christian and the Muslim points of view. Unfortunately, I found it really hard to suspend disbelief as our main character jumps from camp to camp, offering critical strategic advice to both the Christian and Muslim sides. Or how our band of main characters manages to be involved in several key battles, the high casualties of which are described in gory detail, without any of them so much as losing a limb.

One of his best so far, rivaling "Small Gods" and "Lords and Ladies". Great social commentary in a funny wrapping. It helps to read some of his other Discworld books so you know the characters, but it doesn't hurt if you haven't.
Exclusively Yours is a masterpiece of contemporary perfection. Yep, I’m still giddy with excitement over reading my first Shannon Stacey book and I literally have heart palpitations thinking about reading the second book in the series – Yes, it was that good. Was there suspense? No. Was the story action packed? No. Was there paranormal shifters or sexy vampires?? Well, its contemporary – so obviously not. But what it did have was witty dialogue, a HUGE dose of sweetly simmering sexual tension that made my knees weak and a cast of characters that had realistic issues I could relate to. To me Exclusively Yours is perfectly sculpted. I was never bored, I didn’t even contemplate skim reading and I couldn’t put it down for the life of me. I lurved it to BITS!! Keri was a realistic heroine. She wasn’t the perfect, prissy, sexy, model like heroine – she was a true woman. She had flaws, doubts and made mistakes. She was also capable of giving the bird to someone who pissed her off. And I loved her. Joe was the same, no flare, no exaggerated perfected sexiness – just a real man, who was hot as hell to me not only on the outside but on the inside too. And although he was a successful author and made of money it was never a real factor in the book. I loved how Shannon Stacey wrote a TRUE romance without all the bells and whistles of glitz and glamour. The story concentrated on emotion. The heat between the characters, the way they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other, the soft touches, sweet caresses. It gave me butterflies and had me continuously smiling. I could go on and on about this book but I won’t. However, I will encourage you to read it for yourself and to come back and let me know what you thought. I have no hesitation recommending this to anyone who loves a sweet, sexy, funny contemporary romance. Merged review: Exclusively Yours is a masterpiece of contemporary perfection.
