Another "letters book" a la 44 Charing Cross. this time the main character is herself a writer of magazine articles just after world war 2. her correspondence with the guernsey group is fascinating, sweet, and nostalgic. such a shame that the internet has pretty much killed letter-writing of this sort.

Think Princes Diaries with a Troll twist:-) This is the first book of three and as soon as I finished this one I downloaded the next to continue the story. Cute.

Fanstastic book. Tells you the nitty gritty in a non-scary way...went over labor and delivery in more detail than anything I've read yet...and was basic enough in the newborn section that my husband even knew what was going on (he's had a little less exposure than most!). It didn't focus too heavily on the "right" diet or get preachy about anything about quitting your illicit drugs. Highly recommend.

I definitely wouldn't have read this if my good friend and colleague Janet hadn't handed it to me and said You Will Like This. I mean, it's contemporary realistic YA fiction, dealing with topics like sports and racism and ugh, not my thing. BUT it's actually really excellent. I loved the descriptions of life in Florida where there are thunderstorms every afternoon and burning swamps and sinkholes. And even though I hate sports myself, I do kind of like reading about them, especially when the underdogs win, as they so often do.
