Hysterical. I found myself chuckling while riding the metro to work many times with this book. I think if I had read this when I was living and working in France I may have fared much better. But you can also tell, despite his long list of complaints, just how much the author loves France. Something that anyone who has lived in France will relate to. Made me miss my time there a great deal but also brought back fond memories. A fast and entertaining read.

This eccentric and odd-paced book seemed a bit disjointed and confusing to me at first. I stuck with it, mostly because I am a great admirer of the author's film Withnail and I. It paid off, as I enjoyed the last 2/3 of the book much more than the first third. I didn't particularly care for some of it, but sometimes the author would write something so incredibly true and insightful about human relations, or something so beautiful or otherwise moving, that it made the book extremely worthwhile.

I almost can't be bothered to actually write a review. I think there's no denying that Anita Shreve has a fairly good way with words but I find her books lifeless, joyless and dank. I read it in a 'getting it over with' way but really didn't enjoy it. The only Anita Shreve book I've read which I kinda liked was Light on Snow. My mum keeps lending them to me - next time I'll just say no.

Not a bad book - definitely a fun read. You get to revisit the characters from the previous two books (something I always appreciate), and Foster's pacing is always solid. I'm not going to give away too much about the plot as I feel it will spoil the previous 2 books if you haven't already read them. I think I liked Alani best of the three heroines - she's had horrible things happen to her, but she's still pretty independent, although I would have thought that someone with such strong men in her life would have developed more sarcasm survival skills. There's not a lot of TSTL content with these characters, which is a nice change of pace. I must confess - I would prefer to have this as a trilogy, but suspect that the sequel bait introduced may move this into a fourth book - no more detail here, as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I like Lori Foster's work, and will continue to read this series; the energy, pacing and fun characters - not to mention the smoking' hot intimate scenes - always make her a great read.

Strange book. This got passed around between a few friends that took a trip to Peru and Bolivia a while back. They all claimed it was a must read, but in my opinion it failed to hold my interest. If I hadn't been traveling and already finished the other book I brought with me, it would have returned to my bookshelf much sooner. I do like the idea behind the story however. The supernatural/metaphysical world is very fascinating to me. I just think the story failed to get that idea across in an interesting way. Probably great to read while traveling in South America.
