When a Man Loves a Weapon is the third in the Bobbie Faye trilogy and just as wonderful as the first two. Some of my favorite lines of all time occur in these books and in this book, the author gives a wry nod to some author friends. Toni McGee Causey makes me laugh and chew my nails at the same time. The good news is that she added a novella to give fans one more peek at Bobbie Faye, Trevor, Cam, and the other wonderful misfits of the Bobbie Faye world. Bobbie Faye's Whacked Out, No Good, Really Sucky, Hot Mess of a Wedding is found in GUNS & ROSES, the anthology featuring the fantastic authors of the Murder She Writes blog. If you aren't familiar with the wild and wacky Bobbie Faye, read the books. If you need a reason to laugh out loud, read the books. If you love a strong heroine in the mold of the Unsinkable Molly Brown, READ THE BOOKS! Oh, and Trevor is truly swoon-worthy as a hero, ladies.

1) I bought this book from amazon for my iPad because I like the subject and it was cheap ($2.99) 2) I got into the story very quickly because the hook was so good. We all don't want the military to run things and would be horrified to think they were pulling the strings in the background. 3) However, it is really cool to experience the horror and read a fictional account of how they were doing it. 4) I was interested to the end and appreciate the effort the author put into making the people and places so realistic. 5) Where has Bob Mayer been? I had NEVER heard of him before. I have read hundreds of books in this genre but feel gipped that I haven't run across this author before. 6) I jumped back on Amazon and now own 5 more of his books

Started this one yesterday while "monitoring" a TAKS test in the English Teacher's room...fascinating.

First off, this book is extremely well written. It reminded me of a very poetic Roseanne episode. My one criticism would be that I didn't have enough to like even one of the main characters - later in the book Holly has a likeable daughter. What You Have Left has me very interested in Will Allison's future books, but for now I consider this book a warm up.

This book gave me a break from the Shiver Madness. It was a nice and refreshing read, quite moving in parts. I liked how Luke was introduced into the book and I was happy that the main character wasn't annoying and whiny like most are. This book is definately a very good Faerie story and I do recommend it to Faerie-Fans. It has you biting your nails and your eyes wide open. You will go back and read paragraphs again because how sweet they are. I liked the end, I personally think it was a good ending that fit the book. What do I think of it compared to Shiver? Well, I can't compare the two to be honest! Shiver is a about wolves, finding a cure, complicated relationships and never ending love. But Lament is about Faeries, breaking free, defeating your fears and standing by the one you love no matter what they are. Looking back at that paragraph they are a teeny bit similar but they're two different worlds which makes it hard to say which is better. I loved them both very much and recommend you to read Shiver (and Lament) if you have not read it yet because it will open a whole new world for you and let your imagination free!!! So trust this review and go to a book shop and read that book!!!

One thing the cover (and presumeably the film) sort of spoils is the agelessness of the zazie character. At times her behaviour is entirely consistent with the little girl in the film still, but at others you wonder if she isnt perhaps already a young adult. The benefit of never really knowing is that you don't know how you're supposed to be reacting to her behvaiour - is she about to be molested or is she an adult just escaping her over-protective uncle for a moment? Is this ambiguity intended to expose our societies programmed moral responses? I think this may have been the first book I'd read to actually make me laugh out loud, involuntarily, in public. Part of that could be down to my previously over serious reading habits.
