I found the structure of this book to be very contrived in order to provide some kind of narrative for different types of historical fiction. I'm not a big fan of historical fiction, and I was annoyed at the jumping around. I ended up putting it down and reading something else (which almost never happens) out of boredom. I was disappointed because I liked her other book, March.

I really enjoyed this one. Its comedy worked better than the sad parts and the demonstrations of the language barrier were very funny. Worth a read.

T thought this was a love story but I was about marriage that should not have ended in a divorce, but did.

Re-read in March 2013: An interesting speculative work of science fiction. Eva was a warm and likeable heroine, with an intelligence and strength that was at times humbling. Her circumstances were horrific, but I liked the idea that (view spoiler) as it explained why she could cope with her new situation. The future-world setting was a little vague -- as one reviewer already mentioned, the technology was practically the same but everything just had a different name... Oh, and I thought the idea of humans becoming suicidal as nature's solution to overpopulation was interesting.

Sarah Vowell is one funny lady. She enjoys doing really out there, old person type stuff like going to graveyards and to the site of presidential assassinations. There were moments of laugh out loud in this book and I learned more about US presidential assassinations than I wanted, but a fun and engaging historical read.
Like the Twilight series. Not particularly well written, but i successfully tickled my romantic fantasy prediliction.

I liked this book. It was a completely different story than the movie but that just means you can like them both. It was slow to get into but I find that is the way most older stories were written. It took time to build the scene before anything happened -- these days we want instant gratification and people used to have to anticipate a little more. I think that if someone is trying to catch up on classics this is a good one to start with.

Dizinin editörlerinin nihayet Amerikalı izleyicilerin İngiliz argo terimlerini kullanabileceklerini fark etmelerine sevindim; bu bana aşırı derecede Amerikalılaşmış hissetmeyen ilk cilt.
