This book deals with so many things that teenagers can relate too. This book covers everything from suicide, sexuality, and depression, but it also shows a lot of compassion-which I think makes this not such an ordinary and great book. Also, this book really focuses in on the social aspects of growing up, which I think will make students want to read this book. This is another book that I would love to use in my classroom. I’m sure the controversial aspects will raise a flag, but I think these topics are dealt with in manner that can be taught in a school.

Whoa...Wow...I mean this book was really...something. 8 girls - 4 the ugliest and the other 4 the prettiest. All this determined by a list. One single list. And all this made up one hell of a story too! Siobhan Vivian's 'Not That Kind Of Girl' failed to really impress me, but on the other hand 'The List' had me just sitting there after I finished reading the rather an abrupt ending of the book with an 'umm...okay...whoa' look on my face for a few moments and then scrambling to gather my bearings. My feelings for this book is all a jumbled mess right now, but I am sure of one thing - this book is going to stay with me for a long time. So...like I said before, this book really is something, along with being a must-read that any devoted reading wouldn't ever want to miss.

I enjoyed this book partly because the author is a distant relative. From the fictionalized account of the history of the Jewish people and the maps of the various migrations they made, I was able to see when his part of the family diverged from mine. And it was a pretty interesting epic. I am fascinated by the author’s life as well: when he was a young boy, he and his family escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto. The plot of this novel is mostly fictionalized until the invention of the printing press and is then more based on facts.
