When I saw this book's description, I knew I wanted it. And when I finally, months later, had a chance to order it through Internet (it's not sold in Estonia's bookshops), I was even more excited. I haven't read much books in English, so here's another reason I wanted it - kinda for helping me learn it better. Already from the beginning, I found some similarities between me and Amy. We're both book fanatics, dream about characters in books (though, which book fanatic wouldn't?) and we both want to be writers. Maybe some other similarities, too, but I try to keep it shorter. What I liked about the book, is that for me it was different from what I've read before. I liked Alexander's character, how he was interested in our world's technology and everything else, how his sense of humor began to develop, and how he was determined to kill Vigo, who had killed his family and terrorized his world. I also kinda liked Ms. P and her friendship with the girls and her knowledge about physics. In the beginning of the book, I really wondered how a character's leaving from book pages will be described. The way how Vigo always managed to escape kinda frustrated me. But at the end of the day, it made it more interesting, for me at least. But there were also things I didn't like. Something I saw in the beginning, for example, where Alexander first appeared. The way he talked with Amy I think should have been different, because he didn't know he wasn't at his home Chicago. But still he made it seem like Amy was the sane one, he simply didn't understand her. And I also found it weird how easily everyone accepted the fact that Alexander was real or that vampires exist. No matter where the truth was explained, everyone accepted it. I think the part where the protagonist is trying to be the "hero" is a little cliche. I mean, she wanted to go after Vigo. Alone. Against a vampire. For me, it didn't make sense. It was clear enough that she rather brought up problems for Alexander, even though at the end it was described like Amy did the right choices. As for the ending - and I really mean the last few pages -, seemed so... plain. Even cliche. The last sentence was meant to have some idea or something, but for me, saying something like this really seemed a cliche ending for a book. Still, in general, I really enjoyed the book. The pages almost flew by without noticing and I had no trouble picturing the scenes. I'd recommend it if you like some fantasy, romance, and if you've ever fallen in love with a character in a book.
