This was an interesting book. The topic of genetic testing and genetic modifications is something that is becoming more real everyday and this book looks at it through a very realistic perspective. The main character, Eli, knows he might be at risk of having Huntington's disease (HD) which has no cure...as the story unfolds the reality of his life becomes clear and the results will create many interesting conversations and debates!

Great book about learning to slow down and live you are living at the present moment. A bit frustrating though, as I dont have the money to tka e sabbatical from life and go on a world tour to find myself. Favorite section is when the main character is sitting attemtping to be mindful of her surroundings and her thoughts without noticing herself being eaten by mosquitos. A goal in my life is to be mindful of mmyself in every situation....have a long way to go on that.

Enjoyable enough, as well written as any of the other Vampire Chronicles, and it certainly adds to the series, but certainly not my favourite. If I had known prior to reading that it would cover so little of Pandora's 'vampire' life I may have been less disappointed with the seemingly rushed finish. The blurb certainly suggests more will be covered and that we would find Pandora seeking out Lestat in New Orleans, but this does not actually happen within the novel. That said if you are a fan of the Chronicles you will enjoy it, the narative flows beautifully, I would have certainly been happy to read more.

avrei voluto dargli due stelline e mezzo (come ad altri in realtà: tra il così così e il bello io ci vedo qualcos'altro...), perché a cento pagine dalla fine mi sembra si perda. sono meravigliosi, sempre, le descrizioni della vita di provincia, così come sono toccanti e profonde le meditazioni sulle proprie malformazioni. ma la narrazione della vita gay a Roma mi sembra un po' deboluccia (sarà che dopo Tondelli a me sembra che nessuno sia minimamente capace anche solo di avvicinarsi a l'intensità e vitalità piena di senso di colpa delle sue pagine). comunque un libro insieme divertente, toccante, disgustoso che vale la pena di leggere. e l'edizione tascabile della Fandango è caruccia e comoda.

I reread this in time for the first Hobbit movie. Still not sure how there are going to be three of them. The first time I read it, I was not impressed. I like it a little better now, after the second read, but it doesn't match the excitement of the Lord of the Rings. Bilbo is a fun character, and it will be nice to see the riddle game played out. Perhaps the necromancer will show up in the movies? That could add a few minutes...I suspect that, instead of having Bilbo get knocked out and missing the end of the Battle of Five Armies we'll see the whole thing, which makes for more excitement. I'm glad I reread it, so I can compare, but I like LotR better.

I heard so much hype about this entire series and well it just wasn't for me. I put this in my read shelf although it truly should be in the never going to finish. I tried to keep an open mind but all the tough names and such just lost interest for me. I just couldn't keep up with the things going on and all the financial stuff in the beginning just lost me. Good luck to those who like the book and the series but it just wasn't for me!
