When Jaycee Dugard was 11 years old she was kidnapped while walking to a school bus stop. Here is the book written in her own words describing the 18 years spent with her abductors and of her recovery and therapy after being "found". It's hard to review a book like this because even Jaycee herself admits her memories and writing about those memories are jumbled. There is a lot of jumping around in the timeline, and it can get a little confusing at times. I applaud Jaycee Dugard's courage and effort putting this book together, but I think with the help of another writer and more explanation to the readers from the doctors that Jaycee is receiving treatment from, the depth of this story really could have been better told. This is an incredible story and it just amazes me what this poor girl went through, but I would love to read a little bit better explanations of why her abductors and Jaycee did what they did and how they were able to live the way they did for 18 years. It's still a very interesting read and I am glad things are working out for Jaycee Dugard and her family.

Will the real progressive religious left please stand up? I cannot consider Jim Wallis a true religious progressive when he won't stand up for women's rights and lgbtq people. He wants to say that abortion and gay marriage are "moral issues" and that responding to poverty is the "real" heart of the gospel. What he fails to recognize is that abortion is an economic justice issue. Poor women are 3 times as likely to have an abortion, and because of the Hyde amendment and lack of federal funding, they often have to wait until the second trimester to raise enough money--which means more invasive, risky procedures and more costs to the women.

First Dragonlance novel, also the first in my favorite set within the series, though i have yet to read them all...there seems to be alot of them. Also my first intro to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, though i didnt know it at the time if first read it-a point in my life when i would read any book that had the word Dragon in the title. lol. A must read series for any fantasy lover.

2.5 Georgie is funny and spunky, and her brother is great. Walt of course is a man's man. Great story line, but I felt like this book pushed the "clean" title a little bit too much. It was defiantly borderline. Lots of innuendos. I think I didn't enjoy as much as I would've had it been cleaner. Moral Note: Lots of innuendos, they "meet" when she is accusing him of stealing condoms. I would probably rate it PG-13. I don't recall any language. There was some drinking.

This was a recommendation from Erin - Orloff's claim is that we all have our own energy and intuition, and the key to a vibrant, strong, loving life is to tap into those things, and protect them so that they can serve as a resource for us to draw on. It got REALLY New-Age-y for me at times, to the point that I rolled my eyes and snorted in derision, but I read the whole thing, with as open a mind that I could muster, and I can't deny that there are some useful parts to it. And I would like to read it again before I return it to the library so get more out of the useful parts.
