After hearing this book discussed among friends, I was compelled to read it. Since it was on a long reserve list at the library, I purchased the book - a rare thing for me. The first 60 pages were difficult due to the subject matter, but once you get past that, it all comes together. What I loved about this book is the relationship witnessed between the Trinity and His creation - man. The book spoke to me on a personal level- leaves you desiring a closer relationship with God. Lots of heart-warming lessons throughout the pages. This is an unforgettable book and one that is worthy to give as a gift to others.

I wish I could give this book 2 ratings. 5 stars for being a great book and 1 star for making me cry. I hate books that make me cry. I know, I know, but first of all, it's a love story above all else and I'm a sucker for love stories. Secondly, I've been watching helplessly as my son has been suffering through a stomach virus, so that made me more sensitive to the 'Jamie story line' and lastly, when it's a love story about not being able to be with the one you love, well, that's all I'm going to say about that. At first I couldn't figure out why the book had to be over 600 pages long, but when I was sobbing during the last 2-3 chapters, I realized it took me that long to really be drawn into the story and grow to love the characters, especially Wanderer/Wanda. Of course, there are the nit-picky things that you can argue about the contradictions in the details of the story line, but I don't have that kind of energy. I just read to escape and enjoy myself and this book let me do that - well, until I started crying. Stupid book.

Proceeds from the fundamentally flawed notion that Nahua symbols of the soul can be elucidated by direct appeal to physiological phenomena. The results are vapid, muddled and occasionally laughable. Anything useful here can surely be found elsewhere, and one wouldn't even have to worry about finding something current, as the author—gifted with a remarkable tin ear for symbols and theology in general—openly confesses a fondness for a reductionist, materialistic 19th-century-style approach to the material. There's a reason why I found this at such a sharp discount.
