łukasz Cendrowski thisisminimal — When I read the blurb I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this book and the premise is great. I really wanted to like it but I struggled with it and ultimately I couldn't carry on reading it. I accept a certain amount of scene setting and getting to know characters but nothing was happening in the first few chapters. The one plot point there was - possibly a new act joining the museum - was just incidental and only seemed intriguing because the character in the book stated it was. There was no meat there and no hook. I didn't even feel any empathy with Bartholomew despite the best will in the world. I don't need high drama to keep me hooked, just a desire to know the characters better is often enough for me - but with this book I'm afraid there just wasn't enough there for me.

Rodrigo Alas rodrigoalas88 — I fell in love with Burke's novels via audible.com, and I try to read everything of his I come across. Unfortunately, the stories in this collection are good but they're not up to his usual standards. Possibly he's trained himself to write novels for so long that the short form of fiction suffers. They're worth reading, but only once.

I like Kundera because he doesn’t imprison me in a fastened frame of a classic narration. Reading Kundera seems as if you meet an old friend in a cafe shop after ages, and while she/he relates her / his life story, you zip your coffee, listen to the cafe music, hear some chats and laughs at neighbouring tables, look at the peddlers at side walk, or a passing tramvay, … as life is flowing around, ….

Will Foster _rive_kyy — I read this because I was curious to know more about an actor I grew up watching on TV and in films, and admired somewhat. And because the book's really short. It's cute in a "dad-ish" sort of way. It's focused towards young college graduates, dealing with decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. There's lots corny jokes, aphorisms, and life advice. I read it in one night.

Zanquiel Tortato zanquielbc3a — Wow is all I can say about this book. I can't wait until the next one comes out. So many things to say here. Roxy is a girl who goes to a prep school. She is the geek as she describes herself. She lives with her mother. Her father died when she was young. One day while going to school she gets asked into the Headmistress's room to only find out that her Granda had a stroke and passed away. She is sent home. While being home her Granda appears to her as a ghost. Roxy has the power to see ghosts and interact with them. Two other ghosts Carrie, and Wendy are introduced to the plot where she helps both of these so they can finally pass on. Mr. Ratchet was the former headmaster of the school and killed little girls that attended there. Carrie wanted Roxy to help her find out where her body is so she can move on peacefully. With the help of her granda and hours at the school library Roxy remembers a fireplace in the headmistress's room. That's where her body is. She along with a guy she is tutoring in maths class by the name of Brandon helps here dig up the body. Brandon is a rugby player and swimmer at the school in which Roxy has a crush on. She gets assigned by Mr. Winters to tutor Brandon. Brandon breaks up with his girlfriend and starts dating Roxy. There is this big dance at their school and he previously explained to her that he had a little secret. (Spoiler alert) He can see ghosts too. Although he can't interact with them like Roxy can. He than tells her that he is infact not human but a fairy and she is a seer which is how she is able to help the ghosts. Again let e just say I love books dealing with the occult and paranormal especially YA Paranormal and this one is a must read for those who are like me.
