Michele Grimaldi thegrim — This book was so over whelming with details! So many things I had never heard about before. I did struggled a little getting through them all. I was really impressed with how John Adams seemed able to see into the future so clearly and knew when, where and what needed to happen. He sure hit it on the head when he said when the events of those times where recalled Jefferson and Franklin would be seen as the hero's so to speak. There is so much in this book, that we discussed it in my book group for an hour and I expect it will come up over and over again. I gained a new respect for John Adams not only for his personal sacrifices but the integrity, duty and honor he had at all times. It is truly an amazing book about an amazing time and people.

Javier Torres javiertorres — I have read this book so many times. Once I start it, I absolutely can't put it down. I started out borrowing it from my library all the time, until finally I found my own copy. It's my favorite book by Avi, who is truly a very gifted storyteller. The book focuses on 13-year-old Charlotte Doyle, making the passage (alone) from England to Providence, Rhode Island, to be reunited with her family. They've taken care of all the arrangements, booking her passage aboard the Seahawk. But from the moment she first steps on board, Charlotte senses that there is danger on the ship. There are secrets, betrayals, murders, and mutinies--all giving this thrilling high seas mystery a spot on the shelf! The characters are very vivid--from Charlotte's quiet friend, Zachariah, to the commanding and cruel Captain Jaggery. Avi spins his magic.

Syed Raza findfocus — when you know a friend really well, and you have for a long time, and know everything there is know to about her - her childhood stories, her relationships with her family members and other friends, all the "people in her neighborhood" - she can tell you something and in a few words you know exactly what is going on and how she feels about it. somehow, marjane satrapi has managed to make the reader of persepolis feel like her best friend: reading persepolis, although it doesn't have many words, the impact is out of proportion to them. perhaps it's that the pictures say thousands of words. perhaps it's satrapi's ability to get things down to their essences. perhaps it's her honesty - her willingness to share even her uncharitable thoughts. anyhow, beyond what this gives you in terms of an insight into the experience of living in iran after the revolution, this book gives the rare gift of intimacy. i highly recommend it.

Flysh Lead foreverlysh — This book looks at the impact of diet on your health in a different way than I have previously experienced. Dr. Campbell demonstrates through numerous human and animal studies that a vegan or near-vegan diet has the power not only to prevent Western "lifestyle" diseases (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc) but to reverse them. It is powerful evidence, and I am a little surprised not to have heard of his research before, but given the power of various food lobbying organizations in the United States, I suppose I shouldn't be. It's hard to fundamentally alter your diet, but after reading this book, I feel like I least have to try.

Hussain Ebrahim 8xhx8 — Worst book I've ever read. I wouldn't have finished it except I was stuck on a beach with nothing else to do.
