This book is told through the experiences and voices of different characters, all somehow involved in a scandal at a private school in Vermont. The event changes their lives drastically, maybe irrevocably, and the full truth of the situation doesn't arrive until the last chapter. I didn't think this was the best of Shreve's novels, but it did grab me and entertain me.

Jill Ryder shindigbespoke — I really couldn't put it down.. I needed to know what was going to happen. Kind of upset that her and Morelli didn't have sex, but whatever. I was kind of mad at her stupidity for part of the book, but she seemed to wisen up later on. Pretty good book, and I'll need to read the 2nd one to find out what happens.
