Daniel Viinalass danielviinalass — Stories tell what happened before the first Wallander book and fills in other blanks in the series. Suggest reading before "The Troubled Man" which ends the series. I'll miss old Wallander!

Enzo González-marín enzo_z3 — I'm going to call it quits on this one--I made it through the first 50 pages. This book is directed mainly at people who want to write thriller/detective/murder type stories. This is not something I think applies to what I like to write, so for now, I find this book useless. The book contains long excerpts from the author's own novels as well as that of others. While I enjoyed to a degree the excerpts from To Kill a Mockingbird and Beloved (it actually makes me want to reread Beloved), the excerpts about the authors own writing is boring and tedious.

Joshua Galbincea jgalbincea — The Shakespeare Stealer trilogy by Gary Blackwood is a lot of fun. Widge is an orphan living in Shakespearian England, and his skill at shorthand gets him thrown in with the company of actors that does their thing at the Globe theatre (I’ve been there, whoo!). Various adventures ensue, with Widge ultimately becoming a full-fledged member of the company and a burgeoning playwright. The cast of actors at the Globe are quite likeable, Shakespeare himself was fun to see, and Widge, with his endearing Northern accent is a fairly strong protagonist. The references to Shakespeare’s plays are many (Widge even helps to write a few) and the uneven style of Timon of Athens is explained. Each of the three books are quick reads, and they are each a lot of fun.
