Emily D _d_reative — Enjoyable historical romance opens with our heroine, Emily being mistaken for a courtesan, who's interviewing to be the Earl of Winchester's new mistress. The beginning of this romance had me in stitches. It is really a great scene. And our heroine is naive and as innocent as a babe. She will keep you laughing. There's one scene where she is stroking the earl's private part and she says "What is this thing?" I almost fell off my chair. Ms. Holt delights us with some truly gifted story telling in Too hot to handle. I don't like to recap a story in my reviews, but To let other readers know what I liked or disliked about a book. In Too hot to handle, I enjoyed the comical scenes as well as the sensual sex scenes between Michael and Emily. And there's a second romance going on in the background, which I would have liked to see in a separate book. Alex and Mary deserved their own story. A good read, I recommend it with 4 stars.

Naresh Jain adobe080f343 — When I read The Colour of Magic, I wasn't particularly looking forward to it and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the best thing I'd ever read but was entertaining enough. There are plenty more Pratchett works on the Life List reading list, but I thought if I was going to read book four, I should probably try and read the ones in between. I do love keeping things in order. Perhaps it was because I knew it didn't count towards the list, or perhaps it just showed up how I really feel about these books, but I wasn't as thrilled with this one. It was still interesting enough, I wasn't bored, but I can't say I was eager to keep on turning the pages either. When I got to the end I was quite happy it was over. I like the characters, I like the satire, I particularly like the Luggage, but it just didn't grab me as I might have hoped it would. Nothing specifically stands out to complain about, and I know these books are much-loved, but I suppose they are just not for me. With so much to read, perhaps I had better abandon my plan of consuming the works in order, and just pick out the ones that have made it onto the list.
