Glad I finally continued on with this story. By the end I was truly liking all the characters and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

good stories, but i think my life and the lives of my friends are more interesting than some of these stories.

Tied as my favorite Mary Stewart book, (who is my all-time favorite author), this books gives us a heroine who is all-too-aware of her shortcomings. And what is really nice, those weaknesses don't go away. She doesn't outgrow them, but instead learns to live with them. As for the mystery, there is a lot of action and fun characters. Danielle, in particular, is perfectly described. I happen to know someone just like Simon, so he is pretty easy for me to imagine too. The story is uncomplicated but gives just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. While you know the bad guy from the beginning, it is the How that keeps you reading. And the great romance. It's subtle, but great.

Funny and quite disturbing. I appreciate the humor that comes out of this story but I certainly can't check the "relatability factor" on this one. If you like David Sedaris, you'll love Burroughs.
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl of high standing at Longbourn Academy must be in want of a prom date." -First sentence of Prom and Prejudice Lizzie is a scholarship student at Longbourn Academy for her talent on the piano. But the other very rich, very entitled students have a long history with the scholarship kids. As a result, Lizzie is constantly hazed, tortured and ostrasized. Her roommate, Jane, is her only friend. Jane's sister, Lydia is a constant embarrassment. Of course, Charles Bingley is in this story--a student at the neighboring Pemberly Academy. Along with Will Darcy. Rather than focus on the similarities between Austen's Pride & Prejudice, I'll tell you the few differences. Will Darcy is not a snob, but Lizzie is so prejudice against any of the Pemberly and Longbourn students that she can't see that. Wickham is a creepy character, equal in vileness to Austen's character of the same name. Lizzie's parents are not wierd or strange, but normal and warm. Other than that, the story is nearly identical. There were a few twists but overall it is VERY similar to the original. I found it to be a fun, light read but nothing remarkable. And extremely short! I downloaded it on my Nook app on my iPad and found it not to be worth the $9.99 charged. How are ebooks so expensive? Even short ones? Can't price be proportional to length? Anyway, a good beach read. Writing is good, just predictable. Especially if Austen's Pride & Prejudice is one of your favorite novels! Content Warning: Reference to teen drinking and sexual situations.

Got to the part where you actually have to evaluate yourself and MYSTERIOUSLY lost interest, lol. Need to devote time to finishing this book. I think it could help.
This novel was good, not great. I enjoyed the return to the letter format, rather than the diary format, but the story was not as engaging and I was disappointed by the ending. All of that buildup and then the characters don't really do anything. As is, the first book is by far the best of the series.
Maybe the most depressing play of the 20th century, but maybe that alone is reason enough to read it.
