I was really disappointed with this book. I love Eco; his works are intelligent and experimental while still relating a good, entertaining story. However, this book was really hard to read; in fact, I never finished. I simply lost interest. The presentation and materiality of the book is attractive - the illustrations and visual experimentations. But the story is boring and masturbatory - the reflections of a book worm suffering from amnesia....just not enough to keep the story going. I just can't recommend spending time on this one. His other works, however, are both challenging and alot of fun.

Wow, what an amazing journey. I love hidden poetry- especially after reading Helen Frost's Diamond Willow... The storyline of the two girls and pacing was perfect.

Written by the same person who wrote the biography of Marie Currie. I adore this person's style. She gives a lot of information, as well as a lot of human facts. She describes the people involved in a very endearing way - you feel you know them. This book describes the process in developing a medication for autoimmune diseases such as MS and arthritis. You get to know the main researcher who gets the idea for the medication, how a company is started to conduct trials and get the drug approved. You also get to know some of the patients. You really want the drug to work...

A year in the life of a Baltimore drug corner. Journalism, not fiction. A worthy read, fairly enjoyable, although I really had to *make* myself read it. I wish the Author's Note had been at the start of the book, rather than the end. It gave me a better sense of where the authors were in the book. I didn't realise while I was reading it just how far the writers had gone to ensure that it was as true as it could be, and that events weren't swayed by their opinions/estimations of what was happening. Since reading it, I've been getting more out of The Wire, so that's good.

The Raw Shark Texts is like a step up from your average beach book. I found it kind of silly, but it was a very fun read and I am still trying to figure out what the hell it was all about- it's very symbolic. This book is a thirty year old man.

it is a great quick read and a reminder why reading just for fun is wonderful. A unique topic too, and I don't even usually like science fictiony stuff. How ironic that a book based on the concept of time travel serves to draw you into the present!
