It was occasionally funny, but more often sad and disturbing. Very dystopian.

Overall, Fault Line was a well-written thriller. The characters had depth, but I didn't personally care for their personalities--they were all rather self-centered and self-righteous for most of the book. The world was fully realized and made me feel like I was there and this could really happen. In my opinion, raising awareness about the potential dangers we face and questions about the morality of certain secret operations was one of the strengths of this book. It really made me think. However, at the beginning of the book, one of the characters tended to just sit and think about things in great detail (at least, in more detail than was necessary right then) which slowed the pace. The book almost lost me twice because of these slow spots, but the pace and details soon balanced out so the tension was maintained. The novel had a lot of cussing, cursing, and swearing; had characters thinking of sex fantasies and on masturbating; and had several sex scenes, one of them explicit. I could have done without all that. As I said, though, overall the novel was well-written and suspenseful.

Allie is an elf with some problem with her selfness. She don't know what she want to be and what she can do with her life. So T, her best friend and sometimes lover, tell her to go on a quest. Rainth is a werecat who agrees to be her keeper. Immediately the heat between the two lead them to a blowminding sex. Soon Rainth can't imagine to live without Allie. But the quest of Allie is not finished... In her quest Allie will go bed with: her best friend T, her keeper Rainth, a man she meets in a club, Justin, the second in command of Rainth, Derek, the mage who help her, Dark... but in the end who will be the man she choose for the life? Lisa Andel has the gift to describe her heroine in a funny way that make them very nice and even if you think that sex is better with love (like me), you can't resist to find them beautiful. And like in the other book I have read, McIntyre&Coventry, the heroine take the stage, and the hero sometimes seems out of place, like a voyerist of the life of the heroine. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/45...

Loved the movie, the book was OK. Sparks is a very simple writer and uses clear language. If you read a lot you can probably finish it in a couple hours.

Masur depicts 1831 as a year enveloped in uncertainty, radicalism, and a foreboding sense of change. The book illustrates the depth and variety of issues that were highly contended in the era of Jackson, such as slavery and nullification. Because the Civil War would not come for another thirty or so years, it is interesting, and even a bit shocking, that so many Americans were certain that an armed conflict between the North and South was unavoidable. The entire book is well researched. Multiple viewpoints and pieces of evidence are used to detail each struggle, and Masur has a real penchant for memorable quotations. By focusing on the events of single year, Masur has room to highlight lesser-known events of this timeframe, such as those involving labor activists and certain religious groups. Masur's book about a single year in America expands upon topics just long enough to make them understandable, and just briefly enough to pique the reader's interest to further investigate some of the cited artists, activists, and statesmen of 1831.

Like all other books I've read by Rebecca Royce, I really enjoyed Love Beyond Time. I will post my review on my blog on September 21st as part of the book blog tour through Goddess Fish Promotions.
Resembles only superficially that disaster of a movie with the same title. Good read. Heinlein is no hack sci-fi writer.

Minette Walters is an English murder-mystery writer who tends to write edgier novels with complex twists and turns. A good representation of her work is The Ice House.

Yes, I read Tucker Max. I read enough meaningful literature that I can probably get away with it. It's hard to replicate "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell," but I think he's done a pretty good job. Tucker makes no apologies for what he does, but you can't say the women involved don't know what they're getting themselves into. In fact, the second half of this book is devoted to his experiences after he became "Tucker Max, famous guy." And underneath it all (this may sound Pollyannaish), I think that he's probably an OK guy -- at least better than a lot of guys his age who are not nearly as self-reflective, and who don't disclose what they're about when they're up to things as equally scummy.
