Kara Ford karaleighford — I really loved the first third of this book, especially the opening chapter. However, after that, the multiple story beginnings got me down, and the book started to feel more like an essay about reading rather than a novel exploring it. I was disappointed. Still, the individual stories were interesting enough and some sections were fascinatingly odd, like something Kafka would've written.

Ksusha Kibenko harmonaizer — This was a much more somber visit to Tiffany's stead than her previous three outings, but a good--and important--one nonetheless. There's a lot of character development here, especially with Tiffany and Roland. It just feels like it takes a long time to get going. But throughout it all, Tiffany remains a strong person who does a lot of great things for people. She accepts the fact that life is a never-ending series of choices, not necessarily between 'good' and 'evil' (whatever those are), but just choices. And she's fine with that. "Learning is about finding out who you are, what you are, where you are... what you are good at and what's over the horizon, and, well, everything."

Steven Lewis stormcloudclothing3a — A slow, but good read. Thought provoking, but terribly depressing. In sum: a Jr. in high school shoots 10 of his classmates and injures 19. He uses the bully defense after his is arrested. Makes the reader think twice about who the victims at a school shooting are. I enjoyed it, but Picoult could have covered the material in 300 pages, not 455.
