played the part of Sylvia in London in 2006. directed by Aaron Mullen. Two best friends are seperated by lives in different cities. when they are reunited, they find themselves in love with the same woman. The Good: Big Driver made my skin crawl. Definitely the ultimate revenge tale. Fair Extension puts an interesting twist on a deal with the devil. A Good Marriage is what domestic nightmares are made of. These three stories quintessential Stephen King. The Bad: 1922 was the first story in the book and it was hard to get into. In the end, it was an interesting story, but being set in 1922, it was much different than the rest. Slow moving and a bit predictable, it wasn't quite at the same level as the other three stories.

The plot was interesting, and kept my interest until the end. The foreshadowing was really subtle; I remember thinking early on: “Oh, something about that Mysterious Group is going to be what solves this Mysterious Happening that is central to the plot” and then completely forgetting about the Mysterious Group and being carried along by the story, until - ta-dah! - Mysterious Group pops up again, and lo, they do indeed partially explain the Mysterious Happening. I kept comparing it to other things (mostly LOTR and Stargate) but the comparisons weren’t in the vein of “look how this guy is ripping off episode 34!” but rather “it’s kind of like episode 34 where they do that thing, but not really.” Oh, so you want to know about the plot? Okay, here goes. Elantris is a magical city in the midst of a fairly normal world. The people who inhabit Elantris are super-human; they are smarter, stronger and faster than regular people and they look differently too, with white hair and glowing skin. But the Elantrians were originally regular people. They are transformed into Elantrians by an instantaneous process called the “Sheod” that strikes without warning, usually while the person is asleep. Elantris had been doing its magical-city-thing for a long while, then suddenly, the city stopped being magical. The Elantrians became crippled, pain-wracked beings who were a shadow of their former selves. And all the lands around fell into chaos. Ten years later, people are still being transformed, but it’s a terrible curse rather than a blessing. And when it happens to the beloved crown prince of the country of Arelon, then the story begins. The novel has a lot of fascinating plots. There’s the mystery (why did Elantris suddenly stop being so awesome?), and there’s political intrigue in the country of Arelon, some religious zealots who are trying to convert everybody, and a little bit of romance thrown in. But it’s not hard to keep straight, and it all ties up pretty neatly in the end, and not in that Deus Ex Machina so common in lesser stories. The one aspect about the book that I didn’t like was the languages. Sanderson came up with a lot of interesting names for places, people and magicks, but many of them are very similar sounding, and it’s easy to get confused, especially with the more minor characters. But this is really the only criticism that I can make. I can wholeheartedly recommend Elantris to you, especially if you like fantasy. Give it a try!

Many people feel this is the weakest book in the series, but putting aside the slow pacing, I think that this book should count as one of the best. This book offers a realistic portrayal of teen angst, which seems to be a constant for all people, magical or no.

I really like the pages and I really like the title and I really like the back of it, because it says words that I like. I like that they said in the book that at the end they got a ribbon and I like that Diego and Armadillo won. And I like that she used all of her stuff, like the claws and the ball and the shell. I like all those parts.

Loved every second of this! Margaret George went all out in stiching this novel together; it absorbed me fully and it was almost like watching an on stage version through every page.

This was quite enjoyable. I didn't find it as gripping as Matched but it was told in a way that kept you reading, once you were a little ways into the story (after the Choosing ceremony is when it got interesting). I'm definitely going to read the next one. Can't wait to see what happens!

I loved this book. I think that bildungsromans have a tendency to romanticize, but in 'Of Human Bondage' the main character's discoveries about his relation to the world rang true. The narrative stance (seems almost like the story is being told from the perspective of an old man looking back with a smile on the trials and tribulations of his early life) is comforting. Maugham explores being in love and the conflicting and consuming nature of love in a sophisticated and insightful way. Good read if 1)you've ever been in love or are planing on it, 2) you have deep-rooted insecurities, or 3) you appreciate the English language. I guess that's everybody.
