Suspense set in Canada. The first I read of this author with this character but he does have more. Really incredible story and I was shocked when I realized where it was heading. About the main character and his wife's apparent suicide.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few parts that I thought were a little predictable, but overall, I do love Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez. I love all of the different characters that she writes about, and I find her to be very humorous as well.

It is interesting (actually quite awesome really) that by compiling essays from a variety of people one can actually form a collage of a literature work that seems almost graphically artistic in a sense. It forms a kind of tribute too in recognizing the people who were affected in the Aum Shinrikyo Sarin attack as individuals with their own ideals and hopes, or to put it another way, simply human just like you and me unlike how the media can portray us a mere statistic while traveling the journey of life. What was interesting to me was the interviews with past/present members of Aum Shinrikyo, because it had shed some light from their perspective on how this cult actually worked, and how an unlikely person (I mean, physically, haha) like Shoko Asahara can come into power and influence the way he did. Other than that, because sometimes different people can tend to say the same things, some individual accounts tend to be a bit boring. One thing which I found really boring was the repeated accounts on how Sarin worked on the body. Then again the books makes you think that you shouldn't think it's boring because individual important human lives were affected here. But I really couldn't help myself!

If you need a light read on the pleasure of reading then read this.Caveat: He has some of his issues like reading with a cup of coffee and tobbaco and stuff like that.

The melodrama. The horrible Becky. The satire. I love to hate this book. I loathe it. But I cheered for Dobbin when stupid Amelia finally came to her senses, and cheered when the horrid Becky was exposed and exiled. Loathing for the people and happenings is the point I think. Thackeray wanted us to feel disgust and loathing while reading this book. You know, since it's satire of a society with serious problems. He also meant for us to have a good time, and I did. Weird.
