Murad Kurt _he_ia_ — Okay this book is really life changing, okay not the book the concept. I really felt different after reading it. I really don't think Rhonda truly gets it. She is stuck on being rich and living in a big house. But If you apply it with religion, with faith. All I can say is Wow! It just was like a bell going off for me. Saying Hey think positive! Dwell in the now and not the past. Don't let your mind wonder around. I honestly feel better about starting my day because I try to start it with a positive thought.

Hayk Sanamyan hayk_s77 — This book was an interesting dip into the life of Billie Holiday, but probably not the best book for readers, especially the age group at which it is directed, who do not have much of a background about jazz and blues. The poems didn't floor me, but there were some beautiful ones, and it was a creative and imaginative touch on Weatherford's part that each poem was the title of one of Holiday's songs, which carried on the theme that begins the book in the form of Tony Bennett's quote that Holiday "didn't sing anything unless she had lived it." The illustrations in the book are gorgeous, and somehow packed with the emotion described in the poems. As a sidenote, I didn't like the fact that the poems were printed on speckled paper, as it just seemed unnecessary and made the words slightly more difficult to read.

Mike Legan _ike_egan — Long ago, well not that long. Flowers had meanings, so people would send them to each other like a code to express feelings that they couldn't because, well, you get the idea and so a modern character has now taken hold of this approach to life as a whole. Instead of talking in normal context, everything is in flowers. Hence the title.

clementmorin
Clément Morin clementmorin — This was one of my favorite Anita Blake books. It was definitely a page turner and brought together some characters and ideas brought up in older and more recent books in the series. Enjoyed the quick moving plot and the characters in this one. A winner in my opinion.

Ahmed Barakat _hoto_ — This is probably my favorite Poe work. I don't really like his writing style all that much but this story was still good. Retribution is an easy topic to make interesting and Poe did an admirable job.

_ack_c_ollum
Zack Mccollum _ack_c_ollum — This was a great choice to read following reading GenderQueer. Like that book, it is a collection of personal essays, this time on issues of passing, but defined in the broadest terms, to include more than just gender, race, ethnicity. While reading the book, I found myself thinking about issues of passing and identity in many other areas of my life. (The most obvious one is geek/fandom communities, and passing as a fan online and at cons; but it also applied more far afield.) I found the book great as an intro, as someone just starting to read in this area; I don't know how interesting it would be to someone already familiar, but it is probably always worthwhile to read personal accounts. The essays were a bit of a roller coaster ride of feelings; there were essays that really felt like a punch in the gut, then some that were uplifting, then some not so interesting, some that I identified with, some that I didn't. The book brings up many questions about passing, intentional vs unintentional, assimilation, access, expression of self vs choosing a representation, rights to claim an identity and questions of sufficiency, intersectionality, expression as activism or -- the other way around -- whether passing or presenting a certain way brings with it responsibilities (such as requiring activism), spaces and communities and the function of representation in those spaces, and ... there's even a sense of presentation in the act of reading this book in public, and whether I choose to hide the cover or whether I choose to be overt in making it known what I'm reading. One of the authors wrote, "Even as I write this I wonder if I will pass at rejecting passing enough to make it into this anthology."

ananyaneogi
One of the most important literary works in the Persian language, and most influencing piece of modern literary in Iran. The Blind Owl is the best portrait of Iranian culture, men and it's craven intellectuality.
