Having finished the trilogy just moments ago when writing this, I am left with a feeling of complete amazement. The Locked Room was the highlight for me, although all three had their own impact - these stories are fun (and not a light-hearted, lack-of-complexity kind of fun)to just think about... Auster's writing style has actually changed the way I read in this case: Kaelan and I had a conversation regarding the use of Austers' own name in the text, which transcends the normal boundary of the closedness of a book... and then again, there are references between stories to the other, seemingly-contained stories in the trilogy. These references make the book feel somewhat bigger than itself. I am unsure of what else to say other than wow... surely a piece that will forever be in my mind.

The history of the CIA has always been shrouded in secrecy. Recently more and more documents have quietly been made public. With these documents an interesting and darker history of the agency begins to emerge. Time after time the agency has shown disaster, failure, and complete stupidity. Those outside the agency (often including the President) are only shown the smoke and mirrors creating a splendid and false perspective of the agency. This history was produced to show that the agency has more failures than success and is continuing to make unwise decisions. Although the author clearly has all evidence to show CIA failure it is interesting to note that nothing he uses to show this is from heresay or opinions of others. He cites all sources and uses direct quotes as much as possible. The book is long, but informative. Overall I would say this book helped create a more complete picture of the CIA in conjunction with some of the books I have read from CIA or former CIA personnel.

Anyone that knows enough about life to recognize their own eternal struggle between sticking to their own beliefs and selling out, no matter what you do for a living, will enjoy this book. It is a classic dilema, and Wenzel's treatment of it in this particular setting (the life of a writer, specifically fiction novels) is very good. His biting wit really makes the book. I do not think this book would have been nearly as meaningful if I had read it as a teenager or in my early 20's. I think 25+ years in the working world has given me a lot of life experience that allowed me to connect to the book.
February 2016 -- Still thinking. March 2011 -It was a bit hard to read because of the difficulty of the Hungarian names. A middle aged couple's adult daughter goes away for a week, and suddenly the parents' life opens up. But, she comes home again. Are some people denied joy; and do they leach joy from others?

It took me a while to get into the book, but after several days of just sitting on my ass, I got into the narrative and whipped through the engaging stories and high-tales. Yee haw! Highly recommend.

Only one word can describe this legendary classic by Paolini. AMAZING! This book, number three in the Inheritance series(now the Inheritance cycle for there is one more book), was the most action and suspense filled dragon book I've read in my life. This book has so many things that I just LOVE about it. Paolini's amazing writing style allowed him to fit comedy, action, suspense, dragons, elves, and a little romance. I guarantee that if you are a mystical or dragon book lover then this is the book for you if you have not read it yet. Don't forget to read Eragon and Eldest! Altaîr, Son of None
