An excellent study on sorely neglected texts. The minor prophets have a lot of important messages for anyone struggling through difficult times. The message of hope is usually concealed in a wrapper of anger, but if you take the time to unwrap it, the message can really help. Ironside does a great job of filling in the historical details and other contextual material that brings these dusty old scrolls to life.

I know, this book is not a great book, not by any stretch of the imagination--and the whole series is dated now but I give the book five stars because the Hardy Boys' books was the series that made me a voracious reader when I was in elementary school. How much do the Hardy Boys's books mean to me? One of the best days of my life was the last day of school at the end of the fifth grade. One of my friends was cleaning out his desk and he had a stack of seven or eight Hardy Boys' books that he didn't want to have to carry home. I said I'd take them and he gave them to me. I had to walk a mile to my house, and the books were uncomfortable. I remember I had to keep shifting them in my arms, and their hard corners hurt my wrists. . .but it was worth it because it meant I had a good series of books to read at the start of my summer vacation.

I picked this up in an airport as a light read for a flight home. It was an easy read, and rather enjoyable. I went on to read all of the books in this series, and enjoyed them all, even though I am not a big scifi fan.

This is a great example of a book that does well on audio. Its hard to read and doesn't measure up to Dune; however, as a companion to the original novel it serves to greatly enrich your understanding of the people and events in Dune.

Ok so heres the deal. I confess that I struggle with these books. Not because of the book but because of me. Here is why, I hate, hate that the women from these times are like second class. Thats just drives me nuts. A lot of the time I find myself yelling at the book. But here is the thing. I am trying to get over that because in general the stories are great. So I have vowed that I will not over react to that and just enjoy. At the end of the day I truly love highlanders and knights! So all I have to say is that I loved this book and since I let go of my issues I seriously enjoyed this book. This was more of a knights book than a highlander. But there was a juicy highlander in there at the end. The characters were great and so was the story. Overall is is about sibling rivalry. Love and the fight to keep it.
