Loved this book! Great story, lovely way to tell it. Reminded me of "84 Charing Cross Road" somewhat.

READ THIS BOOK! I recently re-read this amazing book. I confess to having been unimpressed by it years ago, but the more I read about Cesare Borgia, the more interesting I find him to be. Yes, he was ruthless, but also a brilliant tactician. Having recently finished Paul Strathern's "The Artist, the Philosopher and the Warrior" I was put into a more open frame of mind as I approached the book this time. I suspect that being older and better read in history gives me a greater appreciation for this book.

A tourist's view of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. The illustrations help provide a sense of place and are extremely easy to relate to. The artist was able to incorporate familiar objects like plastic lawn chairs and coffee mugs and sweatshirts with unfamiliar landscapes and concepts to make the story easier to digest. She also did something that I've often found lacking in graphic novels, in that she was able to use visual clues to describe the progression between frames so that I wasn't left wondering how we got there. Simple things like showing the characters rounding a corner before joining a new conversation. Much appreciated. In the end, I don't think I'll ever fully be able to wrap my brain around the Israel-Palestinian issue. It's hard to know what I would forfeit my life to defend. I can see parallels between this and most other wars. They all seem to be about a group of people who feel entitled to something and they must take it away from others to get it. No one wins. In the end, people lose and they move on. Favorite Quotes: Before I came here, I read as many firsthand accounts of the birthright experience as I could online. Many of the alumni wrote that from the moment they set foot in the land of Israel, they felt a real connection. A few even said that they felt like they were "finally home." To me, it's more like spotting a celebrity on a crowded street. Someone whose crazy life has been splashed all over the tabloid pages for years. And there they are...right in front of you. But I just wonder if it's really right for Israel to be a Jewish state. Why can't it just be a state? The [Jewish] law is a compromise for those who cannot hear the universal language [of humanity].

I expected this book to be a little bigger, it's a tiny wee pocket sized volume (maybe a large coat pocket). 100 influencial computer games are listed within it's pages, each getting about two pages to describe it's significance. Easy to pick up and read a few entries here and there. Comes complete with screen shots. And any book that mentions my favourite flash game Sissyfight has to be good!

I thought this book started off interesting, had some lag in the middle, but really picked up at the end. I am reading through the Modern Library's Top 100 Novels of All Time, starting with this one [#100]! I would definitely suggest this book to a friend. The writing is somewhat reminiscent of a Jane Austen novel, I enjoyed it!
This book is burrowed so deep into my subconscious that I confuse my own memories with it. The sweetest, most tender love story I've ever read.

"The Luck of Roaring Camp" is a touching short story about an infant that enters the lives of several men. Through the story, it is obvious that The Luck's entrance into their lives changed the men in many ways.

3.5 Stars. Keeney's tale of the nuclear arms race of the 50s and 60s is, at times, both fascinating and terrifying. Unfortunately, his writing style and factual errors (e.g., calling Edward Teller "Edwin Teller") detract from the story. In addition, he jumps around in time, and the tale would have been better served by being told in chronological order so as to consistently increase the tension. Also, he includes incidents and persons that have nothing to do with the heart of the story. Nevertheless, this is a vitally important period in human history, and one that continues to be relevant today. The book is definitely a worthwhile read.
