This book really touched my heart! It was so sad how it talked about how her mom had died and how her dad was always going to work and forgetting about Annie (the daughter and also main charector). She finally learns to..wait...why don't you just read the book for yourself!

I didn't think I'd enjoy Artistotle's ideas as much as I did. Arguments were clear, really liked the translation, wish I had read this sooner, but glad I now own it!

I don't usually read Anne Tyler anymore but thought this might be worth a download. Nope. No more Anne Tyler for me. I didn't like the people and, as usual (in my opinion) all the 'quirky' people have a sorta/kinda epiphany at the end of the book that 'brings it all together'...actually I was ANNOYED and then bored but the way the story plodded on. Glad to be done. I've had a baaad run of book selections lately (maybe because I've just been cruising eLibrary to get something to read while on vacation). ... as I look over my ratings over the last month. Time to reinvigorate - which I think I will have NO PROBLEM doing. Keep posted.

Since I have often read legal thrillers, I was interested in how the lawyers are trained. Scott Turow's book about his firt year at Harvard Law School I found very, very interesting. Some of the technical data may have changed--prices for lawyers; people use laptops now not typewriters and so on. But human nature changes slowly if at all. The pressure, stress and competitiveness that Turow describes no doubt still fairly accurate even after all these years. I recommended it for any interested in law or lawyers; I give it a solid 3 stars; not fantastic but well worth reading if the subject matter is of interest to yoou.

This book I had similar feelings as with the Emperor's Children, there were so many good things that I heard people say about the book then I read it and was not particularly impressed. It also reminded me why I moved out of the Midwest.

The best book I've ever read. I've debated long and hard if I could really call it that, I hate to have something take Jane Eyre's place after all these years, but yes, Anna Karenina is the best book ever written. You don't meet just a Darcy, or a Rochester, or a Heathcliffe -- all three are there. There isn't just a Tess, but Elizabeth and Jane as well. Tolstoy takes the inner workings of 7 major characters and delves right into their lives. It never once felt like, "wait I can't keep track of them all." It was more like, "well I'm sick of Levin," turn the next page, and you're taken right back to Anna. I loved loved loved this book. I think it may be the best analysis of human behavior. Better than anything any psychologist has ever written after hours of study and research. Tolstoy covers our obsession with love, fear of death, and need for society. Our inability to change immediately, but the inevitable fact that over time we will all change. His prose on farming and the country, and the debates over educating women. All of it, all of it was beautiful. The best book ever.

3.5 stars Okay, I’m not going to lie… I was less than pleased with this book’s ending. THANK GOD Kagawa wrote a fourth book, or, seriously, I would have thrown something. Why? Because this ending wasn’t satisfying. In fact, it was the opposite. It was gut wrenching, rip your heart out, sad. It left a hole in my heart. I’m serious. It really did. But… I can’t tell you why. Just rest assured, the fourth, and final book in the series, The Iron Knight, comes out on 10/25… and it will put some balance back into your world. I promise. Now… this is a very well written series. Kagawa has a very vivid imagination, and I truly love her writing and her characters. I found this novel to be more on par with The Iron King, meaning I liked this one better than The Iron Daughter, and I still stand by previous statements… Puck, by far, is still my favorite. I love the correlations between him and Shakespeare that Kagawa throws in throughout the series, and I love his nonchalant, cunning ways. He’s a great guy, and I really think Meghan would be better off with him, however, Ash has started to grow on me a bit. Finally, I know. Yes, I still find Ash moody and overbearing, but his other side seems to come out more in this novel, and I’m beginning to see what Meghan sees in him. He can be nice, caring… To read my full review (10/25): http://bookvacations.wordpress.com/20...

While working with her new special task force, Violet is hunting down the Collector - a guy that collects "girlfriends" and leaves them behind for the authorities to find. Unfortunately, working with the group also puts Violet in the crosshairs of a killer. *Twist at the end was very unexpected! I didn't see it coming, but I didn't trust that character for some reason the whole time. Looking forward to the next book!
