I'm not the hugest fan of short stories, since I think it's very difficult to pull them off, so it's not really surprising that I wasn't a huge fan of these. I felt like the story I was interested in the most (the retelling of the Frog Prince) was much too short and could have been nicely expanded and that the others had too much description and "telling" (rather than "showing") and not enough action and dialogue. McKinley's works are usually full of description and "telling," which is ok for novels but was a weakness in these stories.
