A beautiful true story of a family's experience through the Holocaust. The story is like a transcript of Jack and Rochelle Sutin telling their story, but it has real beauty in it. Part of the reason I love this so much is I met Jack and Rochelle Sutin during a premiere of a play about their lives that I was covering for the paper. So I have a signed copy of the book. But it really is a beautiful story.

IRB # 6 This is one of the best books I have read in a while. I liked the way Caletti did the book mainly in a flashback. Ruby McQueen's character was amazing, she was the "quiet girl", but there was something that Travis Becker brought out of her while they were together. It was as if she was a complete different person as she blindly started to fall in love with him. It shows how some people can make you show the good,bad and surprising qualities of a person.

I picked this up on a recommendation, and ending up realizing one of the countries this "grump" visited is Qatar, which is where I'm headed in a few weeks. The book is an exploration of happiness and it seems Weiss discovers what my mom always told me: money doesn't equal happiness. This provided lots of thought about what it takes to make me happy -- and why it should take anything at all, given all the blessings in my life. It'd be a great book club read.

I love Michael J. Fox. I started reading this because its been on my to-read list for a while and my students were also reading true stories. However, I got side tracked by other books and finished it weeks later. I found the way the times jump around a little distracting at first until I got used to it. I enjoyed reading about the movies and shows I was familiar with, but more so enjoyed hearing about Fox's growth and struggle as just a regular person making his life work. I really liked the ending :) Because I was reading this during school, I was able to call upon what I was learning about in class, which modeled for my students how real life free reading is personally satisfying.
