incredibly brief overview of russo-japanese war 1904-05. primar focus is of land actions, though naval actions were much more decisive. lots of photos, good timelines. book does run low on steam towards the end and typos are easily detected. despite this, still a decent preliminary reading.

I've learned that there is even more to being an Eagle Scout then we will ever know, but we need more of them in the WORLD!

I read this while I was in the hospital waiting for my dad to come out of surgery. It definitely helped me to stay distracted and sane. On the back of the book a review says that this book is a mix between Catcher in the Rye and My So Called life- I would have to say that is a pretty accurate description. It's got that teen angsty self discovery feel- but with a queer twist.

This is the first Neil Gaiman novel I've read, which shows you how slow I am. I first became aware of his writing while reading a comment by the Query Shark on her site. I was struck by the similarity between his writing and that of Stephen King's in the Dark Tower series. It had me wondering who had influenced whom. Shadow, the unwitting protagonist in American Gods, held me captive throughout the novel. His method of handling adversity is a lesson for all mankind, though I hope no one has to endure the trials and tribulations of this main character. Mr. Gaiman's writing style and the application of his extensive vocabulary assure that I will continue to read his stories, if only as a lesson in writing.
