In the last few years the market for sassy female vampire hunters has skyrocketed. This isn't a story about a sassy female vampire hunter. Shes a sassy female witch, in a supernatural world that exists along with our own. And this was my first read into this rather huge new genre. Everything I read has sassy female leads, not sure why. Dead Witch Walking is a rather cool entry into the genre, and with as many books in the series as Kim Harrison has under her belt (and written with the same quality) this is probably one series that is around to stay. It's a rather dense book, so given it's length, it's got to be good for me to finish it. It pacing was good (except the mink part), and the characters likable and cool. And so far, Harrison ain't gone the way with her characters that Laurell K Hamilton has ...

Funny, funny romance set in Brooklyn featuring a fractured Italian family and a hunky Romeo who's good in the kitchen.

A modern woman with romantic troubles wakes up in Georgian England in a very Jane Austen-esque situation. Entertaining.

This is an amazing book. If you even liked just a tiny bit the Da Vinci Code, well this is SO much better and so much more intellectual. Everything in it is like a blaze of emotional and intellectual treasure that you cannot put down until you finish. The ending, I must say, will never disappoint you.

Fiercly artistic, blue-haired art student Karou roams the streets of Prague without fear, unknowing of the war that will soon collide with her reality. To her friends, Karou's reality is shrounded in mystery and coy teasing - the monsters drawn in Karou's ninety-plus sketchbooks are characters of her imagination brought to charcoal fruition each day. But for Karou, the monsters are real - they are her family, a group of chimerae who have raised her since birth. Karou's chimera father figure, Brimstone, is a tooth collector and purveyor of wishes, often sending his blue-haired foster daughter on errands to collect teeth from around the world, using a quiet portal in his office. Then black, scorched handprints begin appearing on portals across the world, and an angel alights on the streets of Morocco whilst Karou is on an errand - an angel sent to end the war between chimera and the angelic seraphim; an angel who must destroy Karou. Yet, about to deliver the final blow, ending Karou and her many tattoos forever, the angel pauses, recognizing something in her - and there our story begins.

This is all I have to say: I'm reading it - and all of the other books in the series - again. This is a great read for any one who enjoys fantasy. After this one, you should definately check out the second one.
