I wanted to give this book more but I couldn't. Within the pages is a good story but alas not the one that was published - ok that might be a bit harsh but honestly the book is too young with more and more wrong turns being made that just start to make the whole thing predictable - if the publisher had taken half the size of this book it would've been a good story! It's about 3 lost souls all searching for something coming together for a cross country road trip across america that is a bit of a disaster to be honest - no one achieves what they set out to do. The story of Candy Cane is one of sadness, her Father is a monk and her step dad forced her to take part in porn films at a very young age - so one extreme to the other - her step dad is chasing her across the country ready to kill. This drags Gina and Shelby into the mess. And then the book goes on and on about religious quotes and one bad move after another. The concept was good but the outcome didn't really appeal to me, it's a shame as there is some good writing in here from time to time.

Witty, dark, lean. The plot gets a bit fantastical at the end--intentionally so, I think, but I was annoyed. I found the characters plausible, and wanted to find their fates plausible, too.

Kids will have fun telling the pigeon NO! over and over again and they may even start to laugh along the way because some of his bribes and antics are just too funny not to.

A good and easy read that will inform you of the finer details of the beginnings and end of these two's time in office. The only thing I didn't like about it was how it made Richard Nixon seem like an underdog worthy of our pity and sympathy... Pfft. Any book that makes me feel sorry for Nixon deserves a few docked points.

She is Sheherazade, spinning tales to entice him, while he hopes for an opportunity for a sexual relationship. Her father was a Partisan and follower of Yugoslavian Marshall Tito. Details of her vagabond life enthrall Chris. Ultimately, his patience, forbearance and careful wooing of her are derailed by alcohol with tragic consequences.Because the story is told only from the inner dialog and interchanges between the two characters it achieves great intimacy. We become voyeurs of their drama and share in the poignancy of their unexpressed love .
