This book contains a lot of useful information for people who are interested in improving their photography. His humor can get a bit dorky at times, but the tips he provides are great and very easy to understand.

This was a really good book. It seemed to go on forever (26 discs!!) and as I mentioned when I did a progress comment, I felt like I was married to it, but I really did enjoy it. I always love books that create their own reality and this one certainly did that. It was definately worth the effort. I spent so much time with it, I think I'm going to miss it. Try it, you'll enjoy it.

This book is hugely influential and I can only imagine that it's because it was unique at the time. Personally, I didn't really get into it. I thought Part 1 was way better than part 2. Part 2 seemed to suffer from the same kind of problems all sequels suffer. The allegorical elements felt like they were random. I think I would have enjoyed more if it had just been the first part, but I lost patience with it when the whole thing started again.

As a former Army officer, I have read many military history books; and I assert that "This Kind of War" is the best military history book I have ever read. As a retired Army officer and Korean War veteran writing approximately 10 - 15 years after the conflict, Fehrenbach does a masterful job in his account. He seamlessly is able to provide an comprehensive account of the conflict across the tactical, operational, and strategic spheres. He recounts the plight of the frozen foot soldier and marine at Chosin Reservoir as easily as he does tells the story of the MacArthur / Truman brush-up. In doing so, he doesn't weigh the casual, non-military down with tactical and operational play-by-play like so many military history books. A must read.

Another "bestseller" from the humorist; I bought this in blind faith only because it was a Sedaris. However, I admit I was a tad disappointed. In some of the essays, it felt like he was trying too hard to be funny; the stories seemed to lack the punch found in "Naked," "Me Talk Pretty One Day," or "Holidays on Ice." If you must read this, borrow it from a library or buy it used. It works well as a paper-weight.

This really is one of my favourite sci fi novels I've ever read. It's unusual, intelligent and very human. McGahan has a real knack for switching genres completely and he really nails it with this one. The characters and fascinating and the world he creates completely beguiling.
