Well I'm rounding 700 pages in this 815-page monster, so I'm going to call it read. Hope you won't protest. The Book of Virtues is a very large collection of interesting fiction, non-fiction, children's poems, Greek myth, biblical stories, inspiring speeches once given, historical figures' journal entries, tall tales and such. They are loosely compiled according to the "virtue" they posses. This is just the kind of thing I love: Things that are fanciful and thought provoking. Over the course of the last year or so it has made a wonderful before-bed book. I will get the second installment, The Moral Compass for sure. If I ever have kids, I will read these to them. As much as it would be grand that the Book of Virtues was brought you by some innocuous scholar, and even better if it was brought to you by someone who represents a true beacon of good will in society, we must face the plain truth is that this book is brought to you (edited, with commentary) by... a right wing conservative republican. Or so I is strongly suggested given that he worked as the Secretary of Education under George Sr. and no other than Margaret Thatcher and RUSH LIMBAUGH write praises on the back cover. I have thought of this often while I've read the book and wondered, am I reading propaganda? Am I perhaps a moral republican masquerading as a liberal? No. It's a good book. These are fabulous stories. I am afraid to find out more about this man, because, as an open minded and caring person I am willing to believe that really good people embrace all kinds of philosophies and I hope against hopes that this man is as good as the tales he brings together. You just have to let that go, and laugh at the fact that on the back Rush basically implies he was the inspiration and impetus for the whole damn thing! Tear off the back cover and enjoy a book for children and adult children, like me.

Novel paling ga jelas yang pernah aku baca, sorry this is my personal opinion. Bahasa yang dipakai oke lah ya, tapi menurutku terlalu baku. Sekarang mana ada conversation antara husband-wife eh si suami bilang kata² SINGGAH instead of mampir? Kan lebi membumi dan lebi nyata kalo si suami bilang aku mampir dulu kerumah mama, daripada aku singgah kerumah mama (Hal 12) lalu kemudian dia bilang ada masalah yang pelik instead of rumit. Boo....hareeehhh geneh, ada gitu yang bilang iya nih aku lagi ada masalah PELIK??? (hal 32) Trus, ceritanya pasangan suami-istri ini baru aja pulang dari hanimun, then besoknya istrinya masuk kantor dan dimeja dia sudah bergeletakan surat² tagihan, then si istri mengeluh karena tagihan mereka kebanyakan dibayar dari gaji si istri, sedangkan si suami ga pernah ikutan membayar tagihan rumah tangga such as listrik, air, internet, telpon. Wihhh...hebat ya, baru juga nikah en pulang dari hanimun tapi dah mengeluhkan pembagian tagihan layaknya sudah berumah tangga yang bertaon². Next, waktu si suami menjalankan tugas dinas di Solo, ia mengajak si asisten cewe di Solo sono untuk berjalan² keliling Solo dengan.......NAEK MOBIL YANG IA SETIRI SENDIRI (hal 130) padahal diceritakan dari awal mpe akhir kalo si suami ini ga bisa nyetir mobil karena dia punya trauma dimasa lalunya yang ngebikin dia ga punya keberanian untuk nyetir mobil, but hey.....hebatt!! di Solo dia bisa nyetir mobil sendiri keliling² kota, tapi begitu balik lagi ke Jkk, traumanya pun kembali....BAM! dia ga bisa nyetir lagi. Great. Inkonsistensi alur cerita dan detail sempat ngebikin aku bertanya² kok ya bisa detail cerita seperti itu lolos dari editing? Belum lagi dengan banyaknya kata² yang salah penulisan, seperti menjadi sepertai... Sorry ya mbak Ollie no hurt feeling, tapi in my personal opinion novel mbak yang ini ga bgt. Langsung abis kubaca dalam waktu hitungan 2 jam dan...i got nothing to impress me. Untung nih novel aku baca dari hasil pinjeman, bukan beli sendiri.

Another good addition to the series. I like the normalcy of Alex and her little brother. Also being held captive by the Vampire adds a nice twist to the story. Overall and very enjoyable book.

While I loved both Artur and Elaina - it was the subject more than anything that bothered me. Just the thought of them being locked up because of their talents turned my stomach. It is well written with a good true love story and a great ending.
