its an interesting read alongside Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance Ok that said way back in the day. This was the most interesting introduction to anything i've ever read. I was told that it'd be kinda boring but the needed background for reading Wright's later stuff in the series. It was a fun (dare i say) though challenging read (b/c its scholarly). Since first reading Wright I've like him b/c (partly) of his wit and writing style. Not being a professional scholar what i have to say about the content isn't very important or weighty. Its a good, if lengthy, book if you want to get an idea of what was going on around, before and after, the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

This book is very different and it will suck you in from the first chapter- Zusak is fantastic! A young man trying to figure out what to do with his life has to perform certain 'tasks' assigned to him through ace cards. So interesting!

One of the best tragedies of the 20th century. While reading the story, you can feel the pain the protagonist(Santiago)is put through, and the high sense of determination that he possesses. After eighty-four successive days without catching a fish, Santiago promises his former assistant Manolin that he will go “far out” into the ocean. The marlin takes the bait, but Santiago is unable to reel him in, which leads to a three-day struggle between the fisherman and the fish Quotation from the novel: 1.You did not kill the fish only to keep alive and to sell for food, he thought. You killed him for pride and because you are a fisherman. You loved him when he was alive and you loved him after. If you love him, it is not a sin to kill him. Or is it more?

I tore my way through this book, just couldn't seem to put it down! The thought of having to reconstruct your life on a daily basis is terrifying and even worse, having to rely on the stranger you wake up next to, and the journal you secretly keep, to fill in most of the gaps - talk about unreliable sources! I was able to piece together the mystery at about the mid-way point, but that in no way diminished my appetite for this novel. I would definitely recommend this book to fellow readers.
