Americans who request walking tours and then complain about having to walk. Americans who travel to Italy then eat at McDonalds. Americans who are upset over Italians speaking Italian in Italy... Will the world ever become bored with mocking American tourists? Unlikely. Actually, I'm not being very fair. Chanti tour guide Dario Castagno devotes as much time to writing about his positive experiences as he does the negative. Unfortunately the positive stories don't make much of an impression and the negative stories we have all heard before. The most interesting chapters in this book are the ones about the Palio and the rivalry between Florence and Siena.

A good novel entwining history and fiction, past and the present. Rosnay pulls a story out of the obscurity of a shameful history that has been repeatedly swept under the rug by a government that wishes to deny it's complicity. Few Frenchmen know of this Jewish roundup of families with young children, and it happened in the heart of Paris. Outside of France, it is almost completely unknown. Rosnay's style reminded me of Tracy Chevalier, so when I read the author's notes at the end of the paperback, I wasn't surprised that she cited Chevalier as her inspiration. Her style is very similar to Chevalier's The Blue Virgin, another well-crafted book. For some reason, I find myself drawn to holocaust stories without even trying to seek them out. This was one of many books I picked up just because something appealed to me... cover art, reader comments, I'm not sure... and then found out they were WWII stories. Apparently, a part of me needs to hear the stories of those who have endured something horrific and hear how they endured and how some survived.

Everyone has a book that they consider changed their life or had a great impact on them. This is mine. I read this back in university, whilst dealing with my own sexuality. I just remember devouring this book in a matter of days, consumed by the fact that the gay characters in this book were just like me. Colored, young and urban. They even listened to the same music as I did! Great for the mere fact that it shows another side to gay life, one other than mainstream and white.

A fantastic coming of age story that can ring true with all older teens/young adults. The story was fast paced, intelligent, and very entertaining. It was easy to connect with the characters and sympathize with their situation and emotions.

Extremely difficult subject matter about a High School shooting. Wonderful perspective of the lives of teenagers and what pressures they face to make, keep and grow in friendships. I highly recommend to anyone with a middle school or high school age child.

There's nothing I can say that I haven't already in the first two parts so I won't get into anything lengthy even though I could talk about this story forever. I adore and am very attached to this story, the world of Ximerion and its characters. Out of all three parts, this is probably the one I'm drawn to the most. All the build-up, all the tension, everything pays off here. The events before, during and after the battle are spectacular and I GOT it. Excellent, loved it all!
