I've always like Robert Wagner. But I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. I kept wondering if this was a typical "Scott Eyman" book, as he's been a co-writer of countless celebrity autobiographies. This book was a true gossip-fest, but not in a good way. I really wasn't interested in every single woman he boinked - and there were many. And I also wasn't interested in the sexual proclivities of other movie stars or RJ's opinion on whether someone was gay or bi. His description of Henry Willson was particularly egregious: "I knew he was gay, although he wasn't mincy" & "he'd blown all his money, among other things...." Pretty condescending and unprofessional. And what about the story about RJ, Bob Mitchum, and Dick Powell hiring a girl to sit on a bench at an Air Force base without underpants on, and watching the reactions of all the men who walked by? He does say it was juvenile, and it was, but it's not a story that I would be proud to put in a book about my life. I did like the story about Barbara Stanwyck - interesting - but I think he could have penned a much better story without all the kiss-and-tell segments. I realize that RJ was a different generation than me, but being a gentleman is always in style. This book has knocked him down a peg or two in my opinion.

We did this for our book discussion but it was a difficult read. The writing style was obscure and the group members had difficulty thinking of topics to discuss with the book.

I'm stealing my review from a friend whom I leant this to - usually when reading books, I think about how I would've done certain elements differently to make the book better, but I wouldn't change a thing in this book, it was perfect. (Now it's back to me) I thoroughly enjoy Russo's writing style and the flawed but endearing characters he creates. For people who enjoy a bit of irony with their humour.

It's an entertaining enough story, especially for a debut novel. However, I do believe that she pigeonholes her characters. If anyone is inclined to read her follow up books...DON'T!! I always try and support fellow Latino/a writers but a good book is a good book. She needs to find inspiration outside of the tabloids and the media's interpretation of Latinos

Not as good as the first in the series, but a cool fantasy novel if that floats your boat. Fantasy has never been anything in depth to me, but it's fun and magical regardless of how shallow the depth may be.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I wonder if because of Fick writing in the first person, it (and he) came off a bit sanctimonious where as the third-person account (Generation Kill)seemed a better balance. I hope that was it as I did love Fick in GK. Though maybe I didn't enjoy this one as much because there wasn't enough Brad Colbert.

Again, another spy story set in London, an entertainment, but a bit of black comedy. Did I read somewhere that this one was influenced by the activities of Kim Philby, the spy who got away, but I may be wrong. However, I find this a deeply moving human story, one man's conviction and love for the land he lived in, pushing him down a dangerous and destructive path.
