Wish it had a more "TA-DA...so THERE" conclusive ending, but the evidence presented throughout the book is interesting, convincing, and in some places very elegantly stated. Great use of visuals, well-organized, and an enjoyable read. Dawkins is, as usual, seething with self-righteous frustration, but considering the general public's current opinion of evolution, I guess he has a right to be so cranky.

Royal history (even novelized like this) is super depressing to me. I liked it for the most part - entertaining.

Like the first book of the series, I really liked this one. That said... The stupidity of people!! It's normal for everyone to have things that need to be overcome and gotten over before they can move on but the way the main heroine, Isabel, handled things - or more accurately, the way she avoided handling them - really annoyed me at times! She kept making her life and the life of those concerned (the hero for example, Nicholas) way more difficult that it needed to be just because she had put labels on people and was certain that everyone would just fall under the same category as those who hurt her. Yes, we get it, people have the ability to hurt you. We also get that you're a big girl and don't need anyone(riiiight!). Will you stop acting like a brat already and get over your insecurities and move the hell on? After the rant, the only other thing that kind of nagged me a little was the fact that the author kept repeating some phrases over and over. They may have not been very close to one another but they were certainly there and I do not enjoy repetitions. And among those repetitions are Isabel's thoughts and reasons for acting like a brat, but I already mentioned those so that's done. Apart from that, I enjoyed the book and the fact that the characters are flawed (obviously :P) and more or less realistic. I won't comment on the fact that the couple were desperately in love with one another after the shocking period of *gasp* a week (it may have been even less now that I think about it...), since it was a different time then and people were funny that way - what with marrying being the first and foremost thing in her minds and women being all tolerant to any faults their respective husbands may have if they're rich enough to allow them their lifestyle of luxury and absolute uselessness. Looking forward to reading Juliana's story - the differences between her and her love interest, the stuck up Duke of Leighton, should make their story a fun one.

Really fun book. It is the first of the Heather Wells Mystery books. There are two more. Third one is "Big Boned".

It's 1909 in New York City, and fourteen-year-old Angela Denoto has just left school to get a job so she can help support her Italian immigrant family, even though secretly she longs to continue her education. Before she leaves, her teacher gives her a diary as a gift, and Angela begins to write in it. She describes how she gets a job at a shirtwaist factory and faces long working hours in terrible conditions. When the workers go on strike, Angela joins them, but in the end they accomplish little but to show their strength. She also describes personal tragedies, the loss of family and friends to illness, and then the devastating fire in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, where her sister and some of her friends work. I really enjoyed this new book from the Dear America series. I recommend it to all readers who enjoyed other books in the series, or who enjoy historical fiction or who are interested in this time period in history. Deborah Hopkinson has done a wonderful job at bringing Angela's story to life.

A great Scottish faerie tale - where the faeries are evil. I've had this since I was a kid and this was my third time reading it, and it delights every time.

** spoiler alert ** I watched the movie 1st. I had no idea it was a true story. Upon reaching the end I was shocked at the outcome. I completed did not see that coming. THis prompted me to think about the situations for about a week before my friend let me borrow the book. The book is much different that the movie. The movie follows the person Chris/Alex, while the book speaks with the people whose live he touched after leaving them. In that regard I felt it was a great follow up. Either way, I know feel that I understand a bit better. I am still in awe by the lack of fear this person had.

DIdn't like the first story. The character was not very likable. Liked the second story much better.
