Before the movie there was a book. And lo, the book was better than the movie. Most of the adaptations were good in the movie and still in the vein of the story so that was nice to see. I appreciated the subtle difference. I especially appreciated her school struggles, and how her friends reacted to them, a point glossed over in the movie. The romance was differently directed as well and I am interested in reading the second now, although it is called "The Perm".

I'm sorry but what the freak!!!!! This book had the worst ending known to man! It's like the author just decided to throw a bunch of crap into a bunch of pages, and called it an ending.....

Don't laugh. Yes, a nine-month-old CAN exhibit a preference for books, and this one is by far my daughter's favorite. It has really cute illustrations, and all the animals have pull tabs that make them dance! Plus, it's called "Jungle Boogie"...how could you go wrong?

Loved this book!!!! I read it in one day coming back from vacation. Clara winter is a great character. She's an odd little girl who befriends an old man. Clara winter and the old man have lots in common including their hatred of winter, which is ironic b/c they both live in upstate NY in the Adirondack Mtns where they endure some of the harshest winters and is the same season which shares Clara's last name. They both have their reasons for their feelings towards winter and the reasons unfold beautifully by then end of this book, which is sad, but also has a satisfying ending in my opinion.
