Lucas Gileade lgileade — Ok, here's the thing. The writing was fine. And the plot was pretty good (standard haunted house, group of people comes to check it out and possibly de-haunt it sort of thing). So the two stars are really more of a personal preference, as I don't handle dark things well. And this was really, really dark. It forces you to think about things that humanity has the capacity for that, in my opinion, don't need to be thought about. They don't need to be thought about, because one of the things we should be working towards as a society is to eradicate even the notion of those things. I'm talking about stuff like necrophilia, etc. I don't need that in my head. So it's not so much an 'I don't want to think about unpleasant things' as 'Writing about this feels unnecessary to anyone's betterment in any way.' I do like Richard Matheson. And there were some things, like the character of Florence, the medium, that I really liked. And it was pretty readable from a writing standpoint. But I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
